I'd stick with Straight Talk/AT&T. Their BYOD is IMHO the best deal going in pre-paid right now. Check Craigslist/eBay for a lightly used Android smartphone, there are many deals to be had. Straight Talk will also be directly selling the LG Optimus 2X soon, which is capable smartphone that should be in your price range.

The Optimus 2X is gonna be upward of $200, and is believed it will run off Tmobile's network. If you want a decent first smartphone on ST (AT&T) coverage then you can get a AT&T Avail, or LG Thrive. Both are AT&T GoPhones that will work with a AT&T sim card from ST, and either can be found in your price range new.

Yes. Just make sure you order the right SIM card for the phone. Older iPhones use a regular SIM and newer ones use a micro SIM. Either way you want a AT&T SIM card from Straight Talk.

There are two threads answering your question, both located just a few threads above this one. No need to even scroll.
