Can someone please provide a picture of the bottom pin grid of the Micro SIM card that Straight Talk provides? I need to see if the Micro SIM card has a grid that is compatible with an 8 pin SIM slot instead of the usual 6 pin. I am trying to get the Pantech Burst to work on Straight Talk, but it uses an 8 pin SIM slot and wont work with my standard Straight Talk SIM which I had cut to Micro SIM size.
I have never heard of their being more than one type of micro-sim card. It is more likely a cosmetic difference, and more likely that you inadvertently damaged your SIM card when cutting (it happens). Some users have had success by jamming a small piece of paper under the SIM card when inserting it to allow the contacts to have greater pressure on the SIM card.
Maybe someone else will come along who knows more. I will be surprised to learn if in fact some devices required a different type of micro-sim card than others.
The SIM card is not damaged as if I put it in an adapter and put it back into my old phone, it works fine. The Pantech Burst has 8 contact pins that line up differently against the SIM card than the 6 pin grid on my Samsung Galaxy S2. I will try the paper trick, but I dont think that is the cause of the issue.
Ok, the ST Mini SIM that I got (standard size) looks exactly like that with the 6 pin grid, just with the larger surrounding area. I will cut down and see if it works.
