Our resident case guru Sabesh just finished his review of the Casemate Pop for the Galaxy Nexus:
My friend and Howard Forums member DerekToronto gifted me this case recently and I decided to review it, as I like very much! Like Derek, I like to accessorize my phones and I can never have enough cases for them. The Casemate Pop case looks quite good, but is deceivingly tough!
The first thing I noticed about the case, brought a smile to my face: The interior soft-plastic has a funky design and the words "Happiness by design". How cool is that!
It's a lightweight case, but remarkably tough. I would venture to say that it's as tough as an Otterbox Commuter, but looks modern, sleek & sensational (my opinion, of course). The seamless design is entailed by the co-molding of plastic and soft rubber.
The case is made up of a hard plastic shell with soft rubber grips on the sides and edges. It covers the back and sides of the Galaxy Nexus with the edges being raised above the surface of the screen plane. Hence, you can lay the Galaxy Nexus flat on it's screen side without having to worry about scratching/damaging it.
The soft interior plastic hugs the Galaxy Nexus quite snugly, while absorbing impact. The soft rubber sides with dimples make it easy to hold. Access to all ports and functions is available via perfect cutouts, although the headphone jack is slightly recessed: This might be an issue for certain headphone jacks, especially the "L" shaped variety. The camera and flash openings are also recessed, providing protection from accidental scratches.
The best part about the case is that it picks up very minimal dust & lint: A welcome change from other protective cases. However, the shiny plastic exterior scratches easily and picks up fingerprints.
In conjunction with a screen protector (mine is XO skin) and this case, I feel quite comfortable treating my Galaxy Nexus with careless abandon! I highly recommend this case for those seeking a protection and style for their Galaxy Nexus.
Pros:
Raised edges., making it safe to lay the Galaxy Nexus flat on it's screen side.
Recessed camera port, which helps prevent damage.
Dimples on the rubber sides add grip & makes it comfortable to hold.
Looks sleek and modern.
Perfect cutouts for all ports and functions.
Responsive, clickey buttons.
Good protection.
Hardly gathers any dust or lint.
Works with Samsung’s official extended battery & cover.
Cons:
Scratches easily.
Picks up fingerprints.
Headphone jack might not accept some jacks, like L-jacks.
New Infinity Blade character
My iPhone 5 ringtone: Bah, Bah, Black Sheep.
