It's slow. Not too much of a difference. I'm looking to switch to Android and just downgrade to the $40 plan.

hi guys,
I am using a bold 9780 just on the $40 plan since i dont care aboutthe BIS or BES features, im fine with whatsapp, gmail app, and opera mini which all work fine. as previous posts I can confirm the 120 kbps cap. So my question is for all you guys that have the $50 BB plan. will the speed be better, if so i will upgrade for the speed alone. dont think i wanna go up to 60 though.

so your gettin 275, sicne im only getting 120 thats still more that double. dont yo uthink it will be faster than what i have?
275k qualifies as "3g" so it's not too bad.
ok i will try it next time my cycle changes
Also notice he's on edge, not 3G... the edge network is not capped like the 3G network is. Force your phone to edge/disable 3G and you should see a slight improvement in speed.
I'm not big on data so I'm not sure what the speeds are. I disabled the Wi-Fi to run that test but usually I feel like my data connection is slow. I have an unlocked AT&T branded BB and that's why it's always on edge. I have no access to the 3G network but that's fine with me.
just another question. say i upgrade to the $50 plan i assume that simple mobile will send the service books over the air. so can i then back theme up and go back to the $40 plan after and keep using these service books. can someone just post their simple mobile service books so its easier
It's highly unlikely that trick would work. Even if it did work, it wouldn't work for long. RIM periodically wipes all of the unpaid BIS accounts off the server and you'd again be without e-mail or BBM, etc. Service books just store data like the IP address of the RIM server where your account is stored -- it still depends on the account to actually stay on that server for as long as you have the services.

I had the Blackberry $50 plan last month - with a TMobile-branded 9780. My speed was capped at 129kbps - confirmed via multiple speed tests.
Which plan are you referring to? As far as I know, the cheapest T-Mobile BlackBerry plan is $60 which gives you 100 MB of 4G then throttled down to 2G speeds.
Were the 2G speeds you were getting after the throttle 129 Kbps?
This would be an improvement since I've heard that the 2G is throttled down to 40-60 Kbps, maybe this is how it was six months ago. Anyone know?
Sorry, I misread. I am also capped on the 120's range on the $50 BlackBerry Plan and Slacker Radio and Pandora will only work on wi-fi.
Some speedtests yield 119 kbps and some yield just over 120 kbps.
Does anyone know the speeds of the $60 BlackBerry plan and if Slacker Radio and Pandora would work?
