Aw crap, so instead of just tapping the camera button from teh lock screen, I now have to slide it up? That's the stupidest thing! I tap the home button twice from the lock screen, if the camera button appears it's becasue I made an intentional action to cause it to appear. Now I have to do through this extra action to make it work rather than just tap the button? It's getting to the point that it's just easier to tap once, unlock and then open the camera app.

I believe what with the current builds the camera slider shows up without having to double press the home key. So with currently released iOS, it is double press home, tap the camera icon. In current leaked builds, it is single press the home (or sleep) button and slide the camera icon. same number of steps. I think the found many people were not aware of the double press feature so they decided to make it always visible. But they had to make the trigger a gesture instead of a tap, since being there all the time would lead to accidental taps and launching of camera.
