MMS Message Send Failure & 3G speeds on iPhone 4S

    Hey Everyone,

I have had some issues with my MMS on my iPhone 4S. It is jailbroken and I installed Tetherme to update the APN settings (I checked them over and over and they are indeed input correctly). Now whenever I try to send a MMS the sending... bar scrolls across the top but after about 10-20 seconds I get the dreaded red (!) with message send failure. Surprisingly, I tried a reboot and one of my MMS sent, but now it's back to the same old message send failure error.

If anyone can shed some light on this mystery it would be greatly appreciated. I am running iOS 5.0.1. In addition to the MMS errors I have noticed my 3G service has been particularly slow and sometimes nonexistent. I live in a larger city with 3G coverage everywhere so I don't know how/why my 3G service would be poor.

I don't know if I should chalk this up to network issues or phone issues.

I followed the wiki for setting up iphone here on howard forums, and I also had issues with MMS identical to what you are describing. I changed my MMS proxy from the "proxy.mvno.tracfone.com:80" that is listed in the wiki to "66.290.11.33" that is listed in the straighttalk materials that come with the sim card. Restarted. From that point on, my mms started working. Now I've read on a couple of threads that it didn't matter which of these two you put in the MMS proxy, but it did make a difference for me. It would be worth a try for you.

Gah, I tried using "66.290.11.33" and restarting. Still no luck... Ahhh the red (!) of death!

Seems strange that it's only effecting my MMS?

There are a lot of random data issues going on with straight talk right now but I haven't had any with mms...

Perhaps it's time to restore and start over again.

A restore doesn't fix slow data. My guess is that as part of ST being allowed to offer BYOP, they had to surrender some additional network control\concession to AT&T, because there have been numerous times in the last week or so I haven't been able to access data (it'll just try to load a webpage and time out), whereas other friends around me on AT&T have had no issues.

It's really frustrating, because this will be a deal breaker for me if this continues. As cheap as T-Mo prepaid\monthly plans are now ($50 for unlim\unlim\unlim), I can just go that route and deal directly with a carrier, or even do a Sprint iPhone plan for about the same as I'm paying for straight talk (on the SERO with sprint), but I'd miss being able to do simultaneous voice and data.

It seems to be something with ST, so hopefully they resolve it very soon. The price is good, but there are features (customer service quality, visual voicemail, etc) that I've been willing to sacrifice because the price has been good, but now that Straight Talk is defining unlimited as limited, and the network quality seems to be throttled\rationed, it's getting old.

I agree this is a little annoying. Let's hope ST resolves this issue. Also, my phone was fully restored only a few days ago so that can't be the issue.

I did and I'm with that red death ! Came quicker. I have IPhone 4 with a Nokia 6790 Sim Card using ST and have had it like this since Nov. not able to send picture or receive pictures.

I tried to reset by erasing all data and start over, all it does for hours is show a circle turning..

I just wanted to check in to see if anyone else was having this issue? I can't seem to get a single MMS to go through anymore.

I had the same issue last week and nothing on the phone resolved it. The ONLY way I was able to get it resolved was to put the sim back into the e71 (carefully do it and you don't need a micro\standard adaptor. Power up the E71, let it connect to the network, send YOURSELF a MMS and wait till you receive it. Then put the phone back into the iPhone and everything is fine.

I just switched from infuse which I was getting great speeds on to a iPhone 4s. I have had troubles with mms some but mostly internet data. I can do a speed test and it goes thru process but reads really high ping and zero for down and upload. Maybe this is a network issue but seems strange infuse worked good. I don't have infuse anymore to try again either.

I kinda have the same, iPhone isn't getting anything close to what my Android did. But I kinda figure 3-4 mb is fine.

    Regarding MMS issues

Check the wiki. I updated it as i had the exact same problem and I found the solution. I'm not able to post a link now but if you search my prior posts you will find the info. Basically it has to do with not using the unlockit.co profile and TetherMe together - and also to use a numeric proxy. I hope this helps.
