    Turning off Smartphone

This may seem like a dumb question but are there any Pros/Cons to turning off your smartphone every night?

    I have the HTC Amaze.

    Thanks.

Turning off smart phone would save battery to some extent.

FWIW, I have found with my Androids, that they work better when you restart them every few days. Turning them off and restarting them does that.

Yes. Like all electronics except pacemakers and other life saving/preserving equipment, it is definitely a good idea to completely turn off or reset/restart your phone every once in a while. It helps keep the random quirks and glitches down to a minimum.

    Slight sidebar:

If you *do* choose to leave your phone on at night, there is a free ap called Timeriffic that will automatically turn off rings and vibrations at a time you specified in advance, and turn them back on each day at a time you've previously specified. You can even set different times for different days of the week.

When I had a feature phone, I always used to shut the thing down at night, because it was simpler than changing all my phone options to keep the thing from making noise or sound, and I was completely unable to stop it from lighting up without shutting it down. With an Android phone and this ap, though, I can leave it on and not worry about anything, it'll stay dark and not make any noise or movement until I'm up and about, leaving me to sleep uninterrupted (Uninterrupted by my phone, anyhow), and yet still allowing me to see missed calls and such when I wake up. If I happen to wake up before my scheduled wake up time, I just go into the ap and change the wake up time to the present, so the ringing and such will work as normal, and just remember to set back before the next morning. Great ap. And I like that Android phones don't necessarily light up and got nuts when you get a call.

This may sound stupid, but when you turn your phone off at night, the radioactivity coming from the phone shuts off, and it benefits YOU greatly because you sleep better. If you charge your phone every night the phone being off helps it charge better considering there is nothing running on the phone...
