Hello everyone,
I am still suffering from the intermitten data connection issue since day one of activating the microSIM I purcahsed from ST. I was able to get data access by going to www.unlockit.nz, but the APN profile created just has this entry, "APN: att.mvno". I don't care of MMSC or MMS (unless they are related to my data issue), but how do I add the two entries, "Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com" and "Port: 80" into the APN so that at least Straight Talk can help me troubleshoot my issue? Thanks!
The following is what Straight Talk asked me to do:
APN Name: Straight Talk (or NET10)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
In my case of intermittent data issue, data service just like it went to sleep but not able to wake up, in other words, it works when it works. I have to toggle Airplane mode on/off in order to wake up the data access... very frastructing...
What do you mean by just jailbreak? I have my phone jailbroken and cydia installed. Merely jailbreaking doesn't allow the apn editor in the network settings. I found an app called tetherme but you have to buy it. is there a way to edit all apn settings without buying anything?
This trick worked for me from another thread in here...... Dont use the unlockit website , instead use tetherme app from Cydia. Make sure you turn OFF auto apn on the first page of tetherme, then just go into Cellular Data Network and type in att.mvno under apn.for mms do the same att.mvno , but add in the mmsc
Proxy and port info as listed by straighttalk
By the way my intermittent loss of 3G
disappeared after doing like i posted above.
I recently had some issues with my data connectivity working in some apps and not in others and I couldn't figure out what the issue was. This started happening after I had taken my SIM out multiple times between my iPhone and Android phone, so I had been handling it a lot. I solved the issue by wiping down my MicroSIM with a microfiber cloth...I'm guessing there was some oil from my hands that were on the gold contacts of the SIM that may have caused issues (?). Just throwing out a guess!
