I've activated an iPhone and a Bionic (both on the no-no list) on PP and here's what I did:
I called and gave them the ESN (or MEID, whatever) and they activate it. One time the guy didn't want to activate the phone, and wouldn't be talked into it. So I hung up and called right back and the next guy activated it.
When I first activated the iPhone, the lady on the phone kind of apologized and told me she couldn't even tell me how to activate it or anything, and that they frown upon it. They usually give you a spiel about how they can't support you and you know they could deactivate them at any moment and the Verizon board room has a self-destruct button in the middle of the table, but you already know all that.
Long story short: keep calling until you get a nice CSR.

Just to add in my experience:
I just activated an iPhone 4 by calling customer service. The rep that I spoke with activated it with no hassle at all.
Now I just gotta watch my data since 100MB goes fast!
Perfect time then to get the "Data Usage" app:

So, Ive had my iPhone on PP for about 4 months now. I went to go call out today...said i had no service. I just paid my bill. So I called into customer service. They cant find my number, but they can see the credit card orders from my online account. My number is gone!!!! My money is gone! And they said they would open a ticket to figure out what happened. But they said its because if my phone.
I highly doubt it was because of your iPhone. It sounds like your number was accidentally ported out to a different carrier. This happens sometimes, especially with prepaid numbers. Hopefully pageplus will get it figured out.
I just placed a call from my iPhone and it is working just fine.
You can plug your number into this site: http://tnid.us/ it will tell you what carrier your number belongs to.
They had no trail of port.
that web site said
'A database error has occurred while processing your request.
This is most commonly caused by attempting to access records for an invalid number,
or by trying to access records that have been deleted from the database. "
Ok, ki...um..sarahbees, I'll bite. So they are opening a ticket to find out what happened? But they also said it is because of your phone? So they know why it happened, right? What is it about your phone that caused this? Did they say? Did you ask? Why would they open a ticket if they know it is because of your phone? This all seems a bit fishy to me. However, maybe this is a legit report..............
I recently tested the "don't mention a PP Dealer by name" rule here on PP Hofo......trust me, it is still in effect - got me a 7 day ban.
From what the lady said, that they cant activate iphone because of Verizon. She said they have started to deactivate numbers that are on iphones. The ticket was opened because they couldnt find out where my number went to. She spoke to a supervisor who said to open a ticket because they didnt know what went on also. There was no trail of my number being ported. She could see that my number had been there and where my auto pay was added.
I asked her if she had heard of this happening to anyone else and she said this was the first time she had this come up.
This does not sound right to me. I really don't think that I would have been allowed to change my phone to an iphone today if they were deactivating them.
Also, it seems that quite a few other PP customers use iPhones. If they were being disconnected because of this, I think we would see more people posting here about it......
Thats what Im thinking also. I came here first to read before i got my number on one. as soon as i hear something back from them ill will post what they have done to help me.
