I recharged for $10.00 and used net that instantly killed my $10.00 watching a youtube video.
WTF? How can I prevent that from happening again. I just want to turn off that internet surfing, so I don't kill my balance.![]()

Yes, you want to port your number to Page Plus when you activate, so an activation with port is what you want. If you are still under contract with Verizon, this would trigger an ETF, early termination fee, so be aware of this.

In general, what is the latest consensus of using an Iphone 4s on PPC?
I am considering getting PPC and am looking to purchase a handset. I don't want to purchase the handset if there is a good chance it might be unsupported or prohibited later.
Also, for those that have the Iphone 4s on PPC... how are your 3G speeds? Better or equal to Droids?
edit: it seems as if those that have free or cheap access to an Iphone should try it, but buyer beware I guess looks like it is not the safe bet as far as handsets go with PPC.
I'll stick with an android phone
Hi,
Apologies in advance for the long story..
I got a Verizon iPhone 4S from a private party.
I activated it online, and got a new phone number. Supposedly successful activation.
OTA programming didn't work (tried *228, *22890, *22899)
Reset the iPhone completely, too.
The phone still has the seller's ph# and can still make calls on the Verizon network.
I then thought of trying an ESN swap with my existing old PP phone.
The PP CSR online successfully did that - she even mentioned "there's a number on that new ESN, I'll remove it".
Supposedly successful... and in fact my old phone reactivated with the random new phone# from the initial new activation (above).
BUT... OTA of the iPhone still doesn't work. I'm still stuck on the old seller's phone.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on? It's possible that the phone is still an active number on the seller's Verizon account. I have e-mails in to ask them to call Verizon to deactivate the phone from their account.
Or am I going to be forced to go with manual programming to get past this?
Thanks for any and all help/guidance.
Go to settings - general - reset and click the reset network settings option -- once it boots back, do a *228 (option 1) and this should fix it. If not, go back again to the same menu and go to the erase and restore all settings option (backup your phone to iTunes first but DON'T use the restore feature in iTunes) and do a feel erase / reset from the phone again --- once it boots back up, set it up as a NEW iPhone (don't restore) and then go ahead and reset the network settings one more time. Again, *228 (option 1) and you should be working. Once your number is working, then you can restore from the backup on iPhones and your network info will be preserved.
It's most likely the initial step will fix it but if not the second step almost certainly will. Also, make sure you are giving PP the right MEID (get the one from the iPhone menu) -- if you take it off a box or somewhere else, there's always the risk something got mixed up somewhere -- pull it straight from the menu and make sure the MEID from the menu is active on YOUR pageplus number while you try those steps above.
I think the answer is "the phone is still an active number on the seller's Verizon account". If this is the case, and if you can't get the seller to remove the phone from the prior account, for whatever reason, including an outstanding unpaid bill, then no amount of manual programming is going to help.
Good luck!
Thanks deathcab,
Unfortunately, I had done both of these steps, previously.
I just tried the full reset again, just in case.
Didn't work... sigh.
I'm wondering if I should go to a VZW store and setup a temporary new account, so that I can at least get the phone under an account I control. Then, try the PP activation. Would that be an option?
Just an update on my activation issue.... turns out the phone had an outstanding ETF. Fortunately, the seller just took care of it and the phone's activated on PagePlus. Whew!
Lesson: ALWAYS do a private transaction at a Verizon store, where you can get the TRUE account status verified for the ESN before you fork over the cash. I was lucky that I had an honest seller who just didn't know what they were doing w.r.t. closing out their Verizon account.
Wow, u got lucky! I was skeptical everything would work out for you (I'm a pessimist, LoL).
But I'm glad to hear every worked out for ya. Yes, please let this be a lesson to everyone - don't take the sellers word, check it out yourself either at a cellular store or esn/imei online checker. And if the seller won't provide the info then he's hiding something from you! Especially with the national blacklist for phones now up and running, making the phone useless in all of USA! Also remember the old saying "if it's too good to be true then it is." But f it is true then you got one heck of a deal :P
