Does T-mobile provide unlock codes from phones with other carriers?

Hi - I know t-mobile provides unlock codes, but do they provide them for phones with other carriers? For example if I give them IMEI for a Telus Canada phone, will they provide unlock code?

    Thank!

If they could do such a thing don't you think that'd be a pretty nasty thing to do to your competitors considering that they paid the subsidy on the phone.

Where can I get a Telus Samsung Galaxy 2 Unlocked? It is locked to Telus right now, looking for the cheapest price to get the job done right.

I tried to get a code for my T-Mobile prepaid T679 from theunlockshack.com but found out they're a complete fraud. They don't charge you a lot but you don't produce a code either. I don't have time to jump through hoops to pursue a refund and that probably how they get away with their operation. I got suspicious so went back and entered a ficticious model and fake IMEI it still returned saying they can get code. It's a complete BS! Don't waste your money and time.

I know what you mean. Some of them can't be trusted. I've had good luck with cellunlock.net (not to confused with cellunlocker.net). They're based out of Florida and have always had a short turnaround time.

It is funny that the way T-Mobile explain the unlock is that they will try to obtain the lock from the manufacturer. So it gives an impression that they will unlock non-T-Mobile phone too.

It's just as they say they'll try. I've had phones that they couldn't get the unlock code from the manufacturer. They'll try but there's no guarantee that they can get one.

Why does T-Mobile even have to contact the manufacturer? The phones are sold by T-Mobile, shouldn't they have the unlock code up front? This is not a question, BTW.

This is not a question? What is it then a statement? Because the manufacturer does not give the codes to the operator when they send the devices to them!
