I wish there is an update from Nokia stating there was an error in the $699 retail price too...

The Conversations page has been updated with the following:
UPDATE: We incorrectly stated that the Nokia 808 PureView would only work with T-Mobile at 2G speeds. This was caused by an error in the spec sheet. We’re sorry about any confusion. The Nokia 808 PureView works just fine with T-Mobile in the United States.
I wish there is an update from Nokia stating there was an error in the $699 retail price too...
$699US as a release price for that phone doesn't seem outrageous to me. What was the N9 when it was first available in the US?
In the AWS/cellular context, TAFL is Industry Canada's list of all base stations in operation, as submitted by the spectrum licensee the month prior.
The underlying database is Industry Canada's Assignment and Licensing System (ALS)
A subset of the ALS is published monthly as the Technical and Administrative Frequency Lists (TAFL)
Real-time access to the AWS/cellular data of ALS is provided by Spectrum Direct's (SD) Geographical Area Search
while $699 for the 808 might seem like just price based on technology alone, its not a competitive one. when you can get other cellphones for less; they may not have the same features, but symbian is DOA. the nokia store provides apps we need on a daily basis, but the american market is app-heavy, americans want apps even if they're a waste of space. it actually hurts me to say these things because i love nokia, i've only owned nokia phones my whole life. if they drop the 808 to lets say $549 they'll sell like hotcakes, they'll make cash in quantity sold alone.
So it will be released on July 8th per http://www.amazon.com/Nokia-808-Pure...dp/B0087OXZ3K/ and Nokia USA Facebook page. Who bought one?
I noticed the US product description of the 808 lists "Nokia Music" as one of the features. I'm guessing this is another error on Nokia's part, or is it actually available in the US now?
İphone is 700, 808 is 700, so? Not surprised at all.
iPhone starts at $650 (16GB) unlocked
Nexus is $400 (+ shipping) unlocked
SGS3 16GB preorder page is showing $550 for the at&t version (with bloatware)
I'd like to see the BoM cost from iSuppli before calling it overpriced. It's definitely not cheap though. If I remember correctly, the N8 came out to be about the same as the iPhone cost-wise.
gsmarena 808 vs cameras, low light edition:

The bulk of their concluding remarks:
The camera is of course the single most prominent feature of the 808 - both in terms of physical appearance and level of interest. It beats every other phone camera at still photography and the flexibility offered by the camcorder is unmatched. And don't forget the zoom - the zoom alone is reason enough to want to buy one.
In good light you can stand next to someone with a DSLR and keep your chin up. And with its xenon flash, the PureView comes out smiling even in most low-light scenarios.
The Symbian experience is light years ahead of what it was on the 5800 XpressMusic. The OS has caught up to the competition with the numerous UI and usability updates, and it's lightweight enough so even the 1.3GHz single-core processor of old architecture delivers a fast, fluid experience.
...
As a phone, the Nokia 808 PureView could be the swan song of a platform worth many glorious chapters in smartphone history. There may be still a few more Symbians to come, but who will remember them over this unique gadget?
As a sign of things to come, the 808 PureView signals something brighter. PureView, combined with the purchase of Scalado's impressive camera technologies, point to a Nokia that will continue to dominate the phone photography field.
Couple that with Nokia's knack for sturdy, well-designed hardware and the exciting Windows Phone 8, and the company suddenly looks a lot more likely to claw its way out of the slump.
The Nokia 808 PureView will have a prominent place in the Nokia Hall of Fame. We're likely to see a ton of short films and music videos shot with the 808 (like we did with the N8), which will keep the phone in the public eye.
So hats off to the Finns - there are no two ways about it. With the Microsoft deal a gamble that's yet to pay off, with plenty of people unable to get over the way MeeGo was treated, with a market obsessed with software and apps, you'd think they'd have other things on their mind than developing what's probably the most revolutionary technology this industry has seen for quite some time. Madness? This is Nokia.
The only criticism in their summary was the bulk of the phone and the relatively limited number of Symbian apps.
Pretty darn postiive!

I want to get a Nokia phone, but I can't decide between the 808 or the n9.
If you could pick one, which would pick?
lol i would pick up both phones. which is what i'm doing. but it would really depend on what you're using it for mainly.
but why the hell is there no black option for the 808? for the amazon pre-order. pisses me off that they never release it to the US in all the colors at the same time. this happened to me twice already (white for n97, silver for n8).
$599 US from Singapore Best, both white and black available, $33 US shipping to NA.
Anyone have experience with them?
"Original unlocked local set"... 'local' meaning? any drawbacks?
Are there any decent cases available?
