Another problem i have is with google maps search with speech feature. I was so happy to see that the nokia 808 was going to have a green send button so i could use talk to search in Google maps, but it won't work. I can hold the green call button and say a city and it just says searching until it times out. I'd really love to have this feature.
I had read somewhere that google maps didn't work with Belle, or you could only get it to work when wifi was enabled. I'm pretty frustrated on Joikuspot not working since I use that to tether my laptop and ipod touch. Have any other owners of the Nokia 808 been having problems like us? I'm loving the camera, but Joikuspot and 3.5G (on AT&T) not working is really starting to bug.

I've seen it work once in the Nokia Store app but it was weird because it showed 3.5G there but in the home screen showed only 3G. Any ideas what might be going on? I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue seeing as I imported it from Singapore and would be a pain to ship it back.
I had problems with Joikuspot Premium on my N8. I emailed the developer directly and they sent me a new installation file. If you can log on to Ovi and track down the receipt number, just email them with the receipt number. Their help was almost instantaneous, we exchanged about 8 emails total in about half an hour.

What kind of problems did you have? I bought Joikuspot Premium straight off their website specifically selecting the Nokia 808 as the chosen phone, so I'm not sure if them sending another installation file would help. I'll give it a try anyway. Did them sending a new installation file solve your problems?

Unfortunately, the 808 is not HSPA+ capable (21Mbps), your Galaxy SII was. I don't believe any of the Symbian phones are HSPA+ capable.

In the AWS/cellular context, TAFL is Industry Canada's list of all base stations in operation, as submitted by the spectrum licensee the month prior.

The underlying database is Industry Canada's Assignment and Licensing System (ALS)
A subset of the ALS is published monthly as the Technical and Administrative Frequency Lists (TAFL)
Real-time access to the AWS/cellular data of ALS is provided by Spectrum Direct's (SD) Geographical Area Search

Symbian phones do get 3.5g. I don't think that means HSPA+ though, at least in terms of what the networks claim. But my first Nokia to get 3.5G was the N95.

ETA: Ok, to clear this up, when you get the 3.5G signal on your Nokia it indicates a HSDPA connection.

Ok fair enough, but I distinctly remember being able to get 3.5G on my N8 and that was rated at a lower speed than the 808. I'm not sure why I can't get that 3.5G symbol to appear on the 808 (besides that one time). I toggled the HSPA settings several times but that didn't help.

The new installation file solved the problem. I have to search my emails to figure out what problems I had. Do try the tech support, it got to be faster than messing with it on your own and getting help here on Hofo.

Oh believe me I've tried already. All the suggestions they've had haven't worked either, hence why I'm reaching out to the community this time :-) What kind of problems were you having with Joikuspot before they sent you the installation file?

The file from Ovi store won't install on my N8. Sorry it appears the issue I had was not related to your 808. Too bad they can't help you, they did solve my problem promptly.

It's fine, I'll figure something out. Thanks for all the help though More importantly to anyone who has an 808 here in the US, are you guys able to get that 3.5G signal to pop up when you access the internet or do anything mobile data related?

No, i have not had the 3.5G symbol on my 808 at all since i have had it. I don't think its slow at all though. Hopefully, they just don't have the 3.5G symbol anymore and they just use 3G all the time now. I know the last handful of nokia phones went into 3.5G so i hope were not getting cheated out of faster speeds that our older phones had...

This is actually kind of important. As the OP stated he was getting 3.5G briefly and I don't see why they would remove the symbol anyway. If the 808 is missing that extra amount of data it's a big deal. I'm curious to know what others are getting, though I guess I'll have to wait another week.

I ended up doing some speedtest-ing and was able to achieve between 2-7 Mbp download and 1.5 Mbp upload, I checked my settings and that was with HSPA on. Even though it was on, the icon never changed to 3.5G (just 3G). With HSPA off, I was only able to achieve ~0.3 Mbp download and ~0.15 Mbp upload and of course it was the normal 3G icon showing.

So I'm thinking it might be a bug somewhere in the software that doesn't allow that 3.5G icon to appear for some reason because I'm pretty sure that 2-7 Mbp/1.5 Mbp down-/upload is 3.5G territory. By any chance can anyone else shed some light on the matter?

So, Amazon says this can be delivered tomorrow, saturday, a day ahead of release. Thinking about pulling the trigger...

    ETA: Pulled the trigger.
