Wow, I'm really surprised Nokia finally fixed that 3G bug. Now only if there was a way to use JoikuSpot here in that U.S. I might seriously consider going back to Symbian...

It worked for me.. haven't had a restart for 4 days now on AT&T
It seems like there are different versions of the update for different regions.
2.1 India (can it be a bigger part of Asia as well ?)
2.3 USA/Europe
2.4 Russia/Eastern Europe
2.5 Turkey

Which makes sense if they are trying to tune the phone for those networks.. its still a workaround tho.. but better than nothing. I am surprised that Nokia fixed it... very surprised.

So no one's cracked the Joikuspot problem yet? I'm surprised there isn't firmware fix by now.
Nice to see the 3G problem may have finally been fixed. I would really like an 808, but the 3G bug and no Joiku was too much.
Question about the 3G fix... is it software only, or do you need to send it to Nokia for the hardware fix, and then apply the software patch?
There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Do a Google search for (The One Reloaded v3.4.0) This is a CFW that allow Joikuspot to work here in the U.S. I have not tried it because i returned my 808 because of the 3G bug. Now that the 3G bug is fixed maybe ill buy it again. Let me know how it works for you.
Yeah ever since I installed the 3.5G update my phone has not had 1 reset from 3.5G connectivity.
Funny thing is that now I actually prefer it off since I have lived without it so long and I am used to prolonged battery life without it on. tit for tat I guess, regardless happy to have a full functional phone once again.
Sad to know this will be my last Symbian phone, those ugly tiles just won't grow on me.
Wow, I'm seriously considering buying one now lol...I love my Oppo Find 5 but I really want to have an awesome camera on my phone again...now one last thing: if SlingPlayer app would work on the 808 I would buy it now. It's only $359 right now too.
Can't say that I've noticed this. My battery lasts the same as it did before the update. But since my phone never experienced the 3G bug, I had 3G turned on before the update as well.
Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Are you now spending more time using 3G and HSPA? This would shorten your battery life.
Past: Panasonic TX310, Siemens S40, Siemens A56, Nokia 6620, Nokia E71, Nokia 5230, Nokia C7-00 Belle
Present: Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia 808 Pureview, LG Nexus 4
i didn't have the 3g bug at all either. always used the phone exactly the same. then the update, and now i get between 6-8 hours less
Just on a side note it's still proof to this day HOW good Symbian is because over this past weekend I attend KROQs Weenie Roast (a concert) and not even before nights end I remember how many friends were already saying their batteries had died
But mine still remained at 35% by 10 at night
And in fact was the phone that mapped us to the hotel we were staying at
As with anything it could be better though, sadly we most likely won't see what Symbian could have became and been
Anyone else seen those Sailfish OS videos on youtube where they're presenting the OS? IMHO I was very unimpressed by the OS, it looked a little windows based mixed with mee-go, but it honestly just didn't look like anything new
And on top of it Blackberry already basically launched a very similar concept OS as to the 4 tiles which stay live
I would still go Symbian given the option was there
I agree that I would go Symbian as well (if there were any new devices).
Sailfish is just follow on from Harmattan. Most of the UI has been known for months now. If you want to play with it you can download the SDK and mess around with the emulator.
If anything BB and WP borrowed heavily from Harmattan (on the N9). The live tiles are something that currently exists on Maemo and Meego. The fact that it is based on a Mer core is exciting from an open platform standpoint.
I'm excited for the device because it is another option and I am not eager to use an Android or iOS device as my primary. I am also impressed with how quickly this start-up has gotten a device developed. Ubuntu and Tizen still look like vaporware by comparison (though that could change later this summer). The Jolla phone is at least real at this point.
with the 3g update, my n9 currently outlasts my 808 lol used to be the other way around though.
i'm looking forward to using sailfish os though. but it sucks that they haven't released the phone specs yet. the other half concept is interesting as well.
My N8 is still king of battery life. I can use it for almost two full days (email, web, camera & nav) before I have to charge it. My N9 can get through a day at most.
I'm interested in having a 808 and Jolla phone combo. Waiting for the 808 to fall into the low $300s. :-)
