    Montreal 3G Speed in Montreal?

    Hi guys,

I recently switched to PM. I was tired of getting robbed by my current provider.

I'm on an n762, and 3G speed seems really slow over here (~350k DL, 1M UL). I can't even stream a YouTube regular quality video.

I read in a post from another forum that this speed is typical of PM's network here in Montreal. Do they plan on upgrading it?

Quebec is a huge market for PM, with the absence of other low-cost mobile companies. I can live with the inferior phones but I hope there's a plan to spend a bit on infrastructure in the works!

Nonetheless, great work so far, PM! We needed guys like you in our province to drive a bit of competition!

If you can connect your phone to QPST and QXDM, you can find out the DRC (Data Rate), from that you can see if its 'signal problem causing slowness' or 'throttling'

you can also go to the nearest PM tower and do speed tests there, use QXDM and QCAT to get the tower location (or the cell maps, but sometimes you think you connect to that tower, but in reality its not)
25GB Cap? DIY Telnus prepaid/Koodo unlimited EVDO internet (for $10 per 2 months, to keep account "Active"), Max 3Mbps download speed, if you roam on Bell (free), then you get non-NATed IP

Hey fee, where are you in MTL? Downtown? Suburbs?
Have you seen any improvements in speed in different areas or at different times of day?
Thinking of going with PM. Any regrets? What's your impression of the N762?

I heard in other forums that TO has good speed, but don't take my word for it.

I've noticed on my end a huge increase in DL speed over the PM network! It now hovers between 1M and 1.5M.
    I live near Cote-Vertu and the 40.

As for the n762, don't expect very much. The phone speed is OK but it lacks internal memory, so I'm really looking forward to seeing the Chinese hackers perfect the rooting process for this phone so that I can get rid of some of the pre-installed clutter.
The camera is crap, of course, but the phone definitely gets the job done.

And honestly, it's not so bad for a Chinese mobile phone. From experience, ZTE > LG.

    Forgot to mention: no Flash.

I've just measured the DL speed again, this time using OpenSignal instead of SpeedTest.net, and it clocked me in at about 2Mbps at 94% signal strength.
