Why can't HTC include HDMI is beyond me. While cpu is faster, it's still 1 GB and 1 core. If I root my Optimus V, I could over clock to over 800 Mhz.

Does anyone know what kind of cpu will be in it yet? If its different than the one in the Optimus V, a MHz to Mhz comparison won't tell all. And I assume whatever cpu is in it, it will also be overclockable. And do many current apps and the OS make good use of dual cores? As in a big difference or is it more of a buzzword/got to have the latest thing?

Not having a removable battery. Hmm, not sure how I feel about that. To me it was the way to recover from a crash (which happens every so often on my V). How would that work out? A recessed button to reset the phone? And my V is now 14 months old and I can tell the battery can't hold as much as before. I imagine there would still be a way to open it just taking more work...

and HDMI means nothing to me. If I had it I would likely use it once or twice over its entire life.

I've read somewhere it's the Snapdragon S2 MSM8655 ARMv7 CPU (same as in Motorola Triumph), which is pretty snappy and can be overclocked to 1.4 Ghz easily after rooting. I've owned both OV & MT, the clockspeeds can't be compared directly. The OV has ARMv6 architecture, so at the same clockspeed, it uses more battery and is slower. There's also memory bandwidth and other considerations. Plus the integrated GPU is faster, about ~36 fps in Antutu benchmark at 1 Ghz on MT vs ~19 fps @ 864 on OV.

A replaceable battery would be nice, but I'm pretty thrifty with battery use on a daily basis (3-4 days between charges after initial novelty wears off), so may be able to stick with 1 battery for the lifetime of the phone. To hard reset such devices, hold power button for 10 seconds.

You'll probably just hold the power button longer than you usually do. As stated in a previous post, I went to Best Buy to experiment with a tablet with such a built-in battery, and restarting it by holding the button in for a while... feels good man. Like booting into custom recovery for the first time

I consistently overclocked the Triumph to 1.5 gigahertz without breaking anything, but we're also talking about a phone that might be more similar to a slightly lower-end machine... vm doesn't have anything in the middle (yet) but processor and price wise it might be similar to the Boost Warp...

    Official site for phone

    FULL listing of specs(gsm model)
    http://www.nextaget.com/htc-one-v-full-specifications/

I've been looking into this phone and it be be a big step up from the aging optimus V. While not a huge leap spec wise, the phone is modern with 4.0 android and a larger high resolution screen. According to the specs it does have better battery life 8.5 hours vs 5 hours of talk time.

I was impressed by what I saw in the video posted in this thread with the camera. While 5 megapixels may not seem like much, The quality of it appears to be great. I'd rather have a good quality 5mp camera than a poor 8mp camera. The HOV camera is very fast and able to take pictures during a video recording. This should be handy for low light situations where the OV fails, especially with the led flash.

Another nice thing is fragmentation will be less of an issue on the HOV with a modern processor and 4.0 android. The OV had a armV6 processor that limited it to lower end apps. So apps like flash, google earth, firefox, ect wouldn't run on it. It uses Snapdragon S2 MSM8255 with the Adreno 205 gpu. Listing of snapdragon cpu/gpu configurations for comparison http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdra...ystem_on_chip)

List of phones with same cpu/gpu
Acer Iconia Smart, Acer Allegro, Fujitsu F-12C, HTC Desire HD, HTC Desire S, HTC Incredible S, HTC Inspire 4G, HTC Radar, Huawei U9000 Ideos X6, Huawei Vision, LG Eclypse,[19] Samsung Exhibit II 4G, Sharp Galapagos 003SH/005SH, Sharp Aquos Phone f (SH-13C), Sharp Aquos Phone the Hybrid (007SH/007SH J), Sharp Aquos Phone the Premium (009SH), Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman, Sony Ericsson Xperia Active, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Sony Ericsson Xperia Acro (SO-02C), Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, T-Mobile myTouch 4G, ZTE Tania, ZTE 008Z

I was considering waiting till a super phone came out to replace my OV but if this is $200 that's a lot of bang for the buck. It looks like this will be coming out sometime in April, hopefully VM doesn't hold off. Don't want another Optimus Black incident, I still miss that NOVA display even though I didn't own it.

    Questions remaining for me is
How easy is it to replace the battery?
    Speaker Loudness?
    Release date on VM?

The HOV uses the same gpu as the Triumph, Question for owners how well does it work on gpu intensive apps?

This Canadian HTC page says it has the Qualcomm MSM8655 (Same as the Motorola Triumph), not the MSM8255.

My concern is the 512 MB of RAM. All newer high-end phones are coming out with 1 GB. I thought some older phones weren't getting ICS updates because they had limited RAM. Hopefully 512 MB will be enough to smoothly run ICS, Sense 4.0, and apps. After the Samsung Intercept with 256 MB, I really don't want another slow laggy phone.

The 8255 and 8655 are identical except the 8655 supports CDMA+EvDO in addition to GSM+WCDMA.*

    * Not all phones with the 8655 have GSM capability. Even though the 8655 SoC supports GSM, it won't do any good without an actual GSM radio to go with it.

Looks like 256mb is the minimum so double should be plenty, 1gb would be ideal but doubt that would happen at $200. Sounds like ICS will be gpu optimized to ease strain on the cpu. What amount of memory does HTC's Sense use up?

HTC Sense is known to be a bit of a resource hog, but Sense 4.0 is supposed to be more lightweight.

Good deal, I hope it makes it VM Usa. Seems to be a decent mix of size and performance (for prepaid).

ICS runs perfectly fine on 1ghz/512mb ram devices.

If this phone gets released for only $200, I'd say it's definitely a good deal.

I was really unsure about this phone at first, but I'm starting to get a little more interested in it. Does anybody know Radio Shack's return policy? Because if this is coming out in April, I may return my Triumph that I bought last week, so I can get this, as I'm sure it will be more worth it than the Triumph, even though it's a smaller screen and no HDMI-Out

I want to say thirty days, but the return info should also be printed on the back of your receipt (if it's purchased at a corporate store).

If it matters, they'll also ask you for your personal information if you make a return. I'm bothered by it, but I know that a lot of other people probably wouldn't care.
