Realistically, up to 150kb with EDGE (2G). Less with bad signal.

How fast can I expect with 2G Speeds?
I'm looking at buying a t-moble prepaid plan and curious what speeds I should expect with 2G.

Yes, realistically.
Seriously though, my LG GS170 will display speeds of around 40-45Kbps on the 2G network using the BBR HTML speed test with either the 50K or 100K tests.
With EDGE on a LG 420G TracFone (no longer used), the same test has displayed speeds up to 120Kbps.
T-Mobile since July 2005.
How accurate are T-Mo's data maps?

If you are referring to the prepaid coverage maps, they may or may not be accurate.Originally Posted by CtlAltDel
The maps reflect data service when roaming in Canada and Mexico on prepaid, but another web page on the T-Mobile site states otherwise.

Funny how this thread was never answered by anyone...
So I'll rephrase what I think the guy is trying to ask :
On T-Mobile's No Annual Contract 4G plans - what are the speeds once the limit is reached on the 4G allowance and it goes into 2G throttled mode?
Is it 60 Kbps (GPRS)? 119 Kbps (Slow Edge)? Full EDGE?
Anyone know the answer to this? I have yet to get a straight answer from anyone, certainly not T-Mobile as they just give a stupid general answer - "2G Speeds"
You will get the full 2G speed available. That means EDGE if it is available or GPRS if not. With Edge at my home I get a little over 200 kbps. T-Mobile doesn't technically 'throttle' you when you hit your cap, they just disable 3G/4G access until the next cycle.
