I have an unlocked Blackberry 9380 curve touch, got it brand new sealed in the box and unlocked it. I used it for the last week with no issues at all. Suddenly today no BBM/Email. If I put my sim card in another unlocked blackberry it works fine. I also have checked my APN settings, they were set to Bell still but worked anyways. Even tried changing it to fido APN settings (internet.fido.ca user: fido pass: fido)
I called Fido 4 times and they pretty much made a note on my account saying my blackberry is unlocked and not to help me. Guess they're right. Any suggestions? much appreciated
just tell them its a blackberry that fido sells and go from there
Private Msg me for free Blackberry unlock codes include IMEI AND PRD OR MEP
The rep can easily see what phone is being used..
Try going into Option>Device>Advanced System Setting>Host Routing Table. Then press the BB button and select Register now. See if that works.
I think I remember telling them to set your IMEI to all 2's with a 5 at the end for unlocked phones, someone please remind me if wrong.
Also try logging in @ https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=fido and try fiddling the settings inside there. Make sure the device is setup correctly inside there and retry the send service books option. Also try a battery pull as well.
Hope it works out for you.
edit: Ensure with Fido that you are actually on a Blackberry data plan and didn't accidentally get switched to a normal one.
Thanks for the input, i will call fido and try to set up the dummy imei. Im so confused because the phone has been working fine until yesterday. I am positive i am on a bb plan fido even cancelled and readded it for me. I tried host routing table, register now, nothing happens. I deleted all service books and will call fido to resend them. I cannot log into fido's bb page because i forgot my password.
Whats weird is my sim works on my girlfriends unlocked curve and hers doesnt work on mine, so definately a phone issue, however i also cannot get my storm2 to work now and that was working just fine before i switched over to this phone two weeks ago which also worked fine until yesterday.
ye I know they can but it works worst they can do is say no
Well I called for the 5th time today, They actually got me through to tech support. The rep told me that this is actually a very common problem as of yesterday (unlocked blackberries suddenly not working on fido bis). He still couldn't help me, and couldn't even give me a RIM ticket # (meaning I'd have to pay like $50 just to speak to them apparently) because it is a non-fido phone.
I'm ready to leave Fido and Blackberry all together at this point.
I've dealt with this 3 times in the past.
There's a reason i switched over completely to iPhone's... Sure, i don't get my email 3sec before i can see them on my PC, but whatever. If i wait 10mins - its not the end of the world.
And BBM is 'oh so revolutionary', an irrelevant selling point RIM still tries to push. I've had a few BB's since my iP4, but always go back and sell the BB shortly after.
If you have the time or knowledge, try updating your phone to the newest software and then try again. Perhaps after this wipe and reinstall of the OS, it may fix the issue if it is phone specific? Worth a shot.

Yep I've tried all of the above. I did the factory wipe and update before even trying to call fido. The tech support rep at fido did say that they have been receiving a lot of calls about this, but still couldn't help me. I threw in my friends Rogers SIM card and magically it downloaded all the service books for Rogers. Fido is really annoying me right now. I'm going to wait a few days, see if Fido can take some blame in the matter (I hope they are bombarded with calls like mine). If nothing is resolved then I will just remove my BB plan, and consider leaving Fido (because after all, I'm not on a contract). I doubt they'd be willing to retain me as a customer, because I don't have one of "their" phones, I guess that is more important than the $50 a month I have been giving them for 6 years, for service, and not one subsidized phone (because let's face it they've been 90% garbage)
Well today at 9am my blackberry went nuts and suddenly started getting bbm's. I had to reregister my emails but those work now too. I did absolutely nothing since yesterday to my phone it just started working today. I'm going to call fido and notify them of this and ask for it to be put in my account notes. Next time this happens at least i can say i didnt have to call rim, this should be on fido to figure out if "many" customers are having issues...unlocked or not. I pay you for rim service fido, you call them.
There is a quick fix for this problem. If you go onto the 2GB for $25 plan on a MTM it will fix all your problems.
