Real simple fix took 30 seconds after 2 hours of using apn backup restore and trying everything i could think of.
Get your phone on wifi and download the H2o-config app from the market. Install it, and run the full config option, then WHAM data mms and all is fixed. They use the same setting since their a MNVO too. It was my last ditch effort before I threw this out the window. Just thought others might try this as well.
It's not the size of the phone, But how well it works!
I hope this helps others. Haven't hear many peoples response. I know there are other threads about data fixes for the avail, but I am a tech guy and couldn't make it work and the config app solved the problem. I hope to hear from others on their results.
Well, that was easy! I've been messing with my Avail all day, loaded the H2O Config full configuration and immediately had a data signal. The signal keeps flipping from available to not available, so I'm not sure if I have a good AT&T signal here or not ... I'll do some trail & error and let you know. Thanks so much for the tip!!
Thanks so much. This fixed my wife's MMS Avail problem!
Great fix!!! Long time lurker here... The Avail is my first ever experience with a smartphone, I got my BYOD sim today. I was able to make calls on the Avail less than 10 minutes after activating the new sim, I transferred service from my existing ST phone. I put in the new APN settings but it kept switching back to the old ones. After many attempts I was able to download the h2o app (no wifi here). WHAM is the best way to describe it! It was so simple and worked perfectly, even for a total noob like me.
A huge thanks to the OP for posting this!
Worked for me as well, thanks!!

Glad to hear it works for you all like it did me. Just some more info...found an app called Tweakker. Yes 2 k's. It allows you to choose from a bunch of networks. I selected Straight Talk and it made one apn that does it all. Just something else to play with
You don't have to down load an app to get mms to work.
I found the solution here http://www.straighttalkwirelessforum...f=6792&t=52221
In summary, you have to update an APN setting. It was the very last one on my phone. Its default is blank, and ST does not tell you to specify anything for this value.
Set the field "APN type" to the value mms
I am sorry to say that my previous posts caused other problems. I was able to send mms, but not email or listen to my google voice vm.
I found another thread about setting the "APN type",
it noted to set the "APN type" to
Apn type: default,mms,supl,apps,fota
I think this fixed the problem.
