I just upgraded to a HTC Rezound and am getting frustrated about two things.
1) When I open the youtube app, it will correctly display a list of popular video thumbnails in a list like normal, but when you click on any video, all you get is the "spinning circle" and a video will never start if I'm in 4G LTE mode. It just sits there indefinitely with the spinning circle. I have deleted the app and re-installed it - no effect... same issue. The 4G signal is strong where I'm trying this. The videos DO play normally if I'm in WiFi or 3G modes - just not 4G. Any clue as to why??
2) Skype video. Half of the reason I upgraded to this phone was for the front camera, so I could Skype with family back home. Skype does work on it, but you can't hold the phone in normal portrait mode to use it. If you do, you appear sideways to the person on the other end, and they're sideways on your end, too - it does not auto-orientate as well. You have to hold the phone sideways (landscape mode style) in order to use Skype video. It's awkward to hold that way over a period of time. Skype doesn't even answer their emails about it. Did the same as with the youtube video -deleted it, re-installed - same thing. It does work in 4G at least, but again, only sideways.
The phone itself has all phone updates on it, as well as updated apps, etc.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: I got through to a Verizon tech rep who was willing to talk to me about these (they seem to shy away from nonworking app talk since it's an app or software issue it seems).
They actually had someone bring them a Rezound so they could test this stuff out and sure enough, on their own unit, Youtube and Skype acted funky just like mine. Raised an eyebrow on their end. In the case of Youtube they for some reason thought it was going to take a phone update before it's fixed, but for Skype, they blamed it on Skype app software. Of course, there's no way of knowing when (or possibly if) either of these will get updated, though he said he was convinced at least the Youtube thing would be addressed by HTC at some point because in his system he found two very recent similar complaints.
But regardless, if anyone in here has experienced the same issues and figured out a way around it that neither he or I have thought of, PLEASE chime in. If a phone doesn't work out of the box or with minor tweaking the way I need it to, it's not of any real value to me, so I may wind up taking this thing back to Verizon this weekend and trading it in for something else if this doesn't get worked out.
Thanks.
