Machi-chara?

Not sure if I should post this here, but any moderator can move this if he/she wants to . Well, I've seen the "show your keitai" thread and found out that some user has something called "machi chara" in his phone. From what I understand, it's a tiny character that appears in the menu and reacts differently according to, if you get some SMS, missed phone calls, or if there is some special day (like halloween, etc). It's not something that could change someone's life :P but, I dunno, it looks like a nice little thing.

so my question is: is there any app for android that is similar to that? ... I am interested in getting an Sharp 007SH (I'm asking like a complete noob through all the forum different stuff, but I rather look like a noob but at least be 100% about everything before purchasing anything xD). And if there is, does it drain A LOT of your battery? ... a mini character based on the android mascot would be awesome

Oh ... well, thanks anyways for the info. ... If I were a developer I would translate one of them, or create a similar one but in english and I'm sure a lot of people would download it ... unfortunatly, my knowledge on programing is the same that japanese: absolutly nothing xD



edit: I think that I found Andoll in english. It's in the Market. The bad thing is that I can't test it out ... cause I don't have an android phone YET xD. But if someone wants to get it, it's free :3 (and if that person wants to tell us how well it performs, he/she is more than welcome to do it xD)

i could translate those apps but i think the original creator/creators would not be happy to have someone else modifying the app. if we are talking about the docomo machichara just point me to the app and ill try to translate it, i DO NOT speak or write japanese so you will have to settle with a google translation.

Original creators? what do you mean? People make different versions of apps all the time, it's not a big deal .

Klanse posted 3 links to some third party machi charas, those application were created by other people thats why im saying they probably won't like having their modified app going around the web without their permission that and the fact that each apk have a unique key i can extract it but at the moment to compile it won't be signed(it will be unsigned) like a normal android app therefore you will need root access to let you install apps like that. The Docomo apk is different, i can extract it, modify it and comopile it and sign it with my own key besides is not like Docomo is going to notice we are not even a 5% of their user base so having a modified app coming from them for a minority like us should not be a problem.

ill take a look at it when i get home, if i can translate it ill upload it at my blog so you guys can download it.

Just tried Andoll. It's not really like a MachiChara. It changes its appearance sometimes, but it isn't animated or anything...

I've just found out that the DoComo phones with Android have the machi chara thing too, like in this video:



is it possible to download like ... a Docomo launcher or something to have it too? (I'll be getting a 007SH, and as you know, it's a Softbank phone without that feature)

If you are gonna do this, take into account that in the step 2 the simple ” at the end of the chrome.exe makes a difference, so if it doesn't work try without the ” and vice versa.
