OTA Updates for Droid Incredible 2 not working

FWIW, my Fascinate could not get OTA updates on PPC. I rooted my phone and am now on a ICS rom.

Same with me! My fascinate would never update to Gingerbread. I kept trying to update and I kept getting the message that there was no update available. And I was too lazy to root it and install it myself plus the phone was freezing alot and I got mad and threw it on the floor, which cracked the screen so I can't use it anymore. Had to get another phone.

My Incredible 2 doesn't update on Page Plus either. It's still on Froyo so I'm going to root it and install Cyanogenmod 7 (Gingerbread), the newest stable release.

I figured how to get the official HTC and Verizon update for my Incredible 2 without rooting or using OTA. I went from 2.2.1 Froyo to 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Full instructions here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=14832713

arent there a couple of updates after that? I am looking at the incredible 2 as my first phone for page plus, but might have to rethink if updates are going to be an issue. Is the Inc2 supposed to get stock ICS?. How you like the INC2. It looks like a pretty good all round phone for the money off ebay and squaretrade warranty. Would have liked the droid X2, but no front facing camera :-(

Yes, but 2.3.3 is the version that's required to gain something called S-OFF which is apparently needed for rooting. I could have upgraded to 2.3.4 but then I wouldn't have been able to do that. I haven't rooted yet, but I'll probably do it to install Cyanogenmod 9 when it goes final.

Updates are an issue for Android phones in general, but for popular phones custom ROMs are an available workaround.

Is the Inc2 supposed to get stock ICS?

Yes, by the end of August.

How you like the INC2.

It's a great smartphone. The only issue I've noticed so far is that I get very few bars at home compared to my enV2, but actual call quality sounds fine.
