he is chronically expressing dissatisfaction and discontent with some of the posts here that don't agree with his opinions.
No such dissatisfaction and discontent with posts has been expressed as you claim. If I disagree with something, I will state my reasons why. But I'm perfectly content to have others post opposing views contrary to your claims otherwise.
I stick with my labeling Jet as a malcontent... My characterization of him as a malcontent is because....
Now, it really sounds like you just want to engage in personal attacks instead of discussing the topic at hand.

Apparently the poster doesn't know when he complains about another's post, he is dissatisfied and discontented. I suggest he go elsewhere for assistance with his problems as I don't have the professional expertise needed to assist a malcontent.
Since he is the one that first threw out the "malcontent" term, perhaps the name calling complaint is a bit self serving.
I also agree, seeming Jet has nothing better to do than complain about complaints.
Well in all honesty you are making a mountain out of mole hill with this whole 4G icon thing. The majority of AT&T subscribers can care less. I can see Jet's point in some of those posts. The other argument between you two has brought this thread completely off topic. You guys are just gonna have to agree to disagree........
AT&T Network - Hartford, CT Area----Comcast Internet - WTF! CT USA to a server in Rome, Italy!

Doesn't matter if some don't think its important. Most consumers don't care about consumer's rights until it becomes their problem. So its a topic that deserves conversation. Too bad some like to interject opinions about relevancy and derail the conversations.

It's big because Apple previously was a holdout on not calling 3G 4G, and now they aren't. It's a slippery slope, and it will further the customer confusion as to what is what. At least Verizon is trying to counter that with their 4G LTE advertisements.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry. Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T. If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

T-Mobile and AT&T have spent over a year calling 14.4 devices 4G. Apple's act of adding a 4G icon to their first 14.4 device will not further customer confusion in the least. Apple is just conforming to the standard that has been long established by the two largest GSM carriers in America.

That's how AT&T's corporate mind work. You certainly fit the bill...

I remember when TMobile began. When did AT&T cave and with which device?
Well, it might be difficult for Apple to dissipate any non-confusion when they offer a 4s "4g HSPA+ non-LTE" side by side with a 5 "4g HSPA+ LTE". Then you just say "Ain't choice great?"
So TMo then AT&T is THE standard? Didn't know TMo set standards for others. If Apple were a conformer, would you have an IPhone? And 15 months is "long established"? Maybe in dog years.

It was the ITU that caved on the original standard when carriers started labeling their faster 3G products as 4G. First TMob before the ITU change, then AT&T followed along after the ITU lowered the standard for what can be called 3G. Then they requested Apple to change the icon, they also caved and that is what got us here today. All of this was due to the marketing practices of the carriers.

Summary: Carriers have been poking at each other about 4G and technically no one had 4G until a couple weeks ago when the ITU stated that our US wireless carriers’ data networks can indeed be considered 4G.
T-Mobile and AT&T have spent over a year calling 14.4 devices 4G. Apple's act of adding a 4G icon to their first 14.4 device will not further customer confusion in the least. Apple is just conforming to the standard that has been long established by the two largest GSM carriers in America.
Today at work, a co-worker was laughing at how after upgrading his new Apple 4S to the latest version of iOS, that his phone now said he had 4G. He seemed to find it incredibly naive of ATTM to think it would fool anybody into thinking their 3G phone was now a 4G phone, just because of the addition of a new icon. And this wasn't a guy that can even spell Hofo or would even spend time here. So yeah, some of the customers do get it, they understand what a scam ATTM is perpetrating w/this new 4G icon on the iPhone. I don't think that many care all that much, but some notice and it does add to their disrespect for ATTM.

One has LTE and one doesn't. It wasn't a problem for Samsung to market the Galaxy S II with an LTE version and a non-LTE version. Why would it be for Apple?
So TMo then AT&T is THE standard? Didn't know TMo set standards for others.
I never said that TMo set the standard by itself. As spdickey correctly pointed out, T-Mo did not follow the ITU standards originally and AT&T was critical of that. In Jan 2011, after the ITU revised their 4G definition in late 2010, AT&T labeled their devices to meet the new definition which also happened to be the same manner that T-Mobile had been doing it previously. So now there was full agreement with the two largest GSM carriers in the US and the ITU. Apple was the odd man out, but it came into agreement with all the other manufacturers with the release of iOS 5.1.

Actually he had a 4G phone the entire time. It was just incorrectly labeled. If there was any fooling, he was fooled into thinking he had a 3G phone, when he didn't. Had he been using various HTC, Samsung or LG phones on AT&T during last the last year he would have been correctly told (by either the icon or the device name itself) that he had a 4G device.
But as you said, he can barely spell Hofo so there's little chance that he would know that AT&T has been selling devices with the same capabilities as 4G for the past year.
