Thoughts? My thought it that the roaming agreement between Sprint and Verizon shouldn't be regulated at all, as Verizon paid for and/or built the network. Of course Verizon will offer it to them at a certain price, but if that price is too high to make it economical to Sprint, then that's fine, and Sprint should have to build their own network, or pass the cost on to their customers. The way I look at it, Sprint's existence right now is partially based on them leeching off of Verizon's network, and not fully paying for it.
I think only small operators like USCC, and the teeny, tiny rural operators like C-Spire, Appalachian Wireless, Thumb Cellular, Bluegrass Cellular, etc, should get regulated roaming on Verizon. It's not like Verizon would cut them off anyways, since Verizon uses them for coverage in some areas.
I usually support government regulation, but It is unfortunate that the government over-regulated and killed the AT&T/ T-Mobile Merger
The best explanation of the pricing nutiness in the industry.
Why Sprint and T-Mo will always suck.
The only way to end the pricing insanity is to eliminate contracts and subsidies.
I want Wifi calling on AT&T.
If you text while driving, you're an idiot. End of story.

The town owns the water and only sells it to the very rich, who then stockpile it preventing me from filling my pool. If they aren't going to use the all the water they bought, I should be able to borrow some at a reasonable rate.
I think it would also be nice if Verizon customers had the option to roam off of Sprint. I'll bet there are some areas where Sprint would have signal or better signal than Verizon. I'm sure its much less common than the other way around though. Sprint customers have the option to use both networks, while we can only use ours, however "wonderful" it may be.
Aren't T-Mobile and ATT going to have a reciprocal roaming agreement? Maybe Verizon is too proud and arrogant to allow the same.
Water is a necessity, cell phone coverage isn't.
Cell phone's are like any other business and follow the laws of supply and demand.
The town is a local government. Verizon Wireless is a for-profit company.
Verizon built the infrastructure at their own cost. The town didn't "build" the water supply.
There is no stockpiling involved here. Other cell carriers are free to built their own towers.
Using the excess water doesn't affect everyone else. More users on a tower does.
Huh? Sprint can roam on verizon free of charge, and verizon can roam on sprint free of charge as well. No one on verizon would ever want to roam on sprint because the speeds suck and I think they may only do 1x roaming. However they definitely have a reciprocal roaming agreement. However with verizon you can roam on sprint as much as you want technically, while sprint limits you. tmobile also limits roaming time and I believe at&t may as well, so that's not really a big deal.
Aside from that, I very highly doubt there are many, if any areas where sprint has native coverage and verizon doesn't. Given that sprint has 1900mhz spectrum, the reach of their towers is less, and if you go look at a virgin mobile or boost mobile coverage map, you can see that they at best cover major cities and highways, all of which verizon more than adequately covers. I'm not sure if sprint covers any truly rural areas that verizon doesn't also cover. Keep in mind that most of sprint's coverage on their map is due to roaming with other small carriers and verizon, not due to their own native coverage.
I agree. Sprint needs to step up their game in many areas. Falling back to roaming is good for emergencies. But a lot of Sprint customers use roaming more than they do native coverage.
Hopefully Sprint will limit the usage still so it doesn't horribly affect anything.
I know right now with Verizon for fun I can use ANY CDMA provider on 850/1900 just by uploading a PRL. I get EVDO on Sprint roaming on Verizon just by uploading a Verizon PRL

I just came from Sprint and the and the evo3d. I was into the XDA forums and a big subject was using a Verizon 0001 Prl. I even had it on my phone and it was easy to switch to and would give me roaming only on Verizon's network to use the data speeds. Looking back on that, what a sad story that is!

Frequency spectrum is a limited resource that nobody can own. Without an FCC to regulate spectrum, a cellular network couldn't exist, as everyone would be jamming each other with their long-range phones that connect to their houses.
The better analogy would be: I don't own my own roads. I don't own my own park. I pay taxes to cover the roads and parks in my State. When I visit neighboring states, I should be able to drive on their roads and use their parks even though I don't pay local taxes.
Maybe someday?

The problem is they dont always enforce it and they lose money on those customers lol. I know ton's of people with Evo's and SGSII's on Sprint in my area and are always in a roaming area using 1000+ minutes monthly and like 2-3GB's of data.
You are right they have policies in place and do terminate some of those sub's, like they did my previous account Lol.
