    4g Mobile Hotspot Usage

    Hey everyone,

I am thinking about getting an iPad 3. I currently have a droid with unlimited 3g and a 3g mobile hotspot.

How does the 4g mobile hotspot work on a phone like the Droid Razr? I am on a lot of conference calls so does the 4g hotspot still work during a call so I can stay connected on my laptop?

I would like to consolidate my hotspot onto a 4g smartphone, especially if I can convince a service rep to add the unlimited 4g hotspot onto a new phone.
Plus, it would save me about $40 a month I believe.

I would also just get a regular wifi ipad.

    Thoughts and opinions?

With LTE phones, you can maintain the data connection (and the mobile hotspot) while on a call if you have an LTE connection. However, with the HTC phones (the Thunderbolt and Rezound), they also support SVDO, so you can do data and voice simultaneously in 3G areas as well.

Just wondering, how do you have unlimited 3G mobile hotspot on a 3G only phone? It's only on 4G phones.
v Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).

Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in Birmingham, AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).^

Speed Test with DSL internet with AT&T(Bellsouth). Horrible.

He doesn't....I hope he's not on autopay

To the OP, as long as you have unlimited data on 3G, the 4G mobile hotspot is unlimited. If you do not currently have unlimited, you are not going to get it.

Before anyone says it's not truly unlimited, I did 32 gigs in 1 week with the 4G mobile hotspot. So....

OP has A hotspot, as in the physical device. Also never said anything about it being unlimited.

    Malutt,
You are best to go with the Rezound and the unlimited mobile hotspot feature. You can do voice/data at the same time, I'm doing it now.

Do not get the HTC TB expecting the hotspot to hold a good data connection continuously. It consistently drops off.
