AT$T are also full of it, always have been, they just want money from people so they can offer poor service!

You say that like AT&T propoganda is accurate. They don't sell it, so of course they'll say you don't need it... more money for them when you go way over later.

Besides, we're talking about a service people got specifically to use unlimited data and text. Advertised as such.

I don't think its going to magically improve the network though. Based on how many people claim poor speeds its like they are already being throttled. I am sure there are some bad apples who are blowing through tons of data though but it would likely be on a fast tower that they are getting good speeds on... which wouldn't really impact others. We will see though.

The most I've ever used in a month is 1.2 Gig. I was listening to streaming audio (Pandora, XM, etc.) fairly often when that happened. People who are blowing through 2.5 Gig before their month is up must be living with that phone in their hand at all times.

If you're watching NetFlix and Hulu all the time, get a cable modem or DSL connection. Pre-paid cell phone carriers were never intended to be a panacea for the cost of maintaining a primary internet connection.

I am sure people would if they could get unlimited data with some calls and texts for $25/mo (or less, considering it wouldn't be mobile).

    Cable internet here is expensive.

You can't even get 1mbps cable for under $30/mo.

Once you go to 7mbps its $50 and keeps going up.

I can't imagine how upset you would be if you were a postpaid contract customer that got throttled. All who pay more just for data than your grandfathered 25.00 a month plan. I have 1 grandfathered plan I'll never get rid of because at the end of the day, I think it's still a steal.

What lucky carrier would get your business because of this change? Verizon does offer unlimited (as for now) 3G data on prepaid. Maybe Boost Mobile?

After the 23rd, Verizon prepaid and Boost mobile will be the only two purely 3g or above network with unlimited data. I don't count throttled ones as high speed truly unlimited. I wonder if they will eventually shutter Boost too considering they are sister Sprint prepaid divisions. Verizon costs a lot and Boost has limited byod. Take a pick...

Boost Mobile is said to throttle also. It's just not known at what point.

Maybe but we all know what happens when you fail to explain that to your customers. I have a couple friends who still retain grandfathered unlimited AT&T plans.

Not at all. I have only hit 3+ GB once while in FL for 3 weeks while tethering. Even your friends on AT&T are being throttled after 3GB. So much for being allegedly "grandfathered".

Which means it is "said to" throttle. Which means it is not a proven fact yet and until there is more conclusive evidence, of which there is NOT, my position stands. I doubt unlimited data will last though anywhere as the big 4 tighten their grip on everything including prepaid.

Does anyone need more proof than that of CEO Hesse stating they do?

No mention of at what point it kicks in but why would he go on record stating they do? Just to keep the analysts happy?

I'm sure if Boost throttles, when Boost throttles, it's not ludicrous like on VM. At least there are wildly different opinions regarding quality, and they're all pointing towards Virgin being the least-supported Sprint brand.

Probably due to being the lowest producing ARPU?
