Advice Needed: Upgrade Phone(s) - Or Go with entirely new phone type

I currently have PPC with 2 accounts - I would like to upgrade one or both...

My Account: Using an htc Eris - $80 per year - No Data - Wifi for data only
Wifes Account: Using Samsung Flip Phone - $80 per year

    Option 1:
Give Eris to wife & upgrade to another Android Phone with 2.2 or even better 2.3 for me

I have looked at the Droid X2, Incredible, Facinate

Max Spend is around $200 For good condition Like New Used CL phone

Don't want to get a phone that is much bigger than the Eris - & Wife would perfer a slide out keyboard (see below)

    Option 2:
Find a good slider droid phone for my wife since she doesn't like the touch screen for texts/email
Keep my Eris (hey it works for me)

    Option 3:
Get 2 of the same phones (say the Samsung Fascinate)

I should also mention I would prefer android 2.3 standard - don't want to root etc...

You forgot Option #4, which is probably your best option - let her choose what she wants! Safer and smoother that way!
I recently tested the "don't mention a PP Dealer by name" rule here on PP Hofo......trust me, it is still in effect - got me a 7 day ban.

She has asked me to find her a phone - she isn't the techie type and while she might be OK with the Eris I have, she doesn't love it. I think finding a slider phone for her, or a standard touch screen with a bigger screen than the eris might be the choice...

Plus since we are talking used, it is hard to do a bit of shopping/tryouts. I would like to zone in on a phone or 2 and then find one at a good price.

Right now I can get a Droid Incredible for $125, Droid X2 for $149, Droid2 for $100, Fascinate for $170...

If she wants physical keyboard, D2 for $100 is good.

I got my wife X2, but she did not like the virtual keyboard (Now she is half ok with D3 - She was coming from a Blackberry - she does not like android so far).

I am now using X2, but I was for a while using Droid Incredible 2, VERY VERY nice phone. I was able to score one through CL for less than $100.

i suggest the Droid 2 (~ $100) or Droid 3 (~ $200). Do the research to see the difference. I'm pretty sure you won't find Droid 2 inside stores now but some might still have a Droid 3 on display for you to check out in person :-)

I had a Droid 1 and Droid X, but preferred the HTC Incredible (1). Ive seen the Incredible 2, its bigger, and no optical mouse...I just dont care for it as much. Droid X was fine but I dont need it that big, and didnt like the actual buttons. The original droid is kinda slow and not as touch sensitive, and didnt adapt web pages very well like the incredible.

If you guys have the $80/2000 minute plans, how do you text? Just pay per text? Assuming that, does she really need a slider that much for few texts? What about a blackberry? I hated a lot about the BB 8330 myself but the keyboard was fine and calls were easy enough, battery life good, and they are CHEAP used.

We don't text enough to matter much. But my wife when she does it takes her forever , and she doesn't like the touch keyboards much. I guess it is better than the old Number key texting.

I think I might try a HTC Incredible, especially if it has Android 2.3 on it....

I thought I would update this thread - I found a new Droid 3 for my wife and after using it for a while she loves it! Thanks for the help along the way...

Now I just need to update my phone - I would like a smaller phone (like my Eris), but with newer software that I don't have to root...I looked into the HTC INC2. I really want a better camera with less shutter lag and better video recording in a small package. I am comfortable with the HTC line currently but will switch to anything android.

One option is the Inc, which would be close to the same size as the Eris, or the one you mentioned, the Inc 2, which is slightly larger, but is a more powerful phone.

I am leaning towards the Inc2 as well - would love it to get ICS - I read it is in the pipeline for later.

How much better is the camera on the Inc2? Compared to the Eris?
