LG 420g - Help for Users of The LG 420g - Comments, Issues, Fixes.
Good Day All! I hope you're enjoying a pleasant one. I started this thread for people who own the LG 420g and would like to chat about it. I thought it might be nice to have one place to go to for help and information... rather than searching all over the place for it.
I have the LG 420g, actually, I have 2 of them. I bought both of them on eBAy. The first cost me $14.07 and the second, $13.40 and that was with shipping. Both came with DMFL (Double Minutes For Life). Both came with Batteries and Chargers. Both were in Like New condition. New SIM Cards were provided by Safelink/Tracfone.
I was able (after 3 attempts with Tracfone Tech Support... practice makes perfect) to get the minutes and telephone number from my old Safelink phone transferred to the new phone. The second phone was not a Safelink account and was much easier. The phone does not need to come with a SIM card in order to get the DMFL.
The first one came with an unopened accessory kit which included: a Car Charger, 2 Hands Free Earsets (although only one fits), and a Case/Pouch.The second came with an aftermarket case/pouch.
My only Gripe about the LG 420g phone is it's Grip. It's so sleek that it's hard to hold onto and flip open. Those without any fingernails to speak of may have a very difficult time.
I came up with a solution that works perfectly. I cut tiny strips of "Grippy Tape"... that black sandy looking tape you see around pools, and on stairs... and stuck them to the sides/edges of the phone (as pictured). Works like a charm and the tape really sticks, especially if you wipe the case down with alcohol prior to sticking the tape on.
Gotta Love eBay! I got 2 Awesome LG 420g Cell Phones and one Accessory Kit that's gotta be worth about $30 Bucks if you bought the contents separately... for $27. 47.
I hope this Thread and this Fix helps you to better Enjoy Your LG 420g. Coming Up: Accessory Kits & Compatibility; Owners Manual/Users Guide Download.

Messages will never go if sent while out of service
Hello all,
If I send a text message while my phone is out of service, the message will go into the outbox, but will never be sent once my phone regains service. :
If I want the message to be sent after I regain service, I have to open the message and hit "Resend"...and I get charged airtime a second time for sending a message.
Is anyone having the same issues? Anyone know if there is a setting to fix this? Does my phone have to be updated (is that possible)? Any other fix?
Hi! CTB... are you sure you're getting charged twice.... sounds like the first time you send the message, the phone is out of service so you can't be charged... there's no service available to charge you... so the message has no where to go except to your outbox where it is saved... then when you're back in service, you have to Resend the message, but now you have a service available to charge you... you have to manually Resend he message because, who knows... maybe the message you sent a day, a week, a couple of weeks ago you might not want sent today... when your service comes back on...
If you really feel you're getting charged twice... and once for a message that goes nowhere... just call their support number and ask for a credit... I'm sure they'll give it to you... and how often does it happen that you lose service... are you talking about when you just temporarily have "no bars" or are you talking about you've run out of money, can't pay the bill, kind of running out of service, where you're down for a while.
I got an LG-420G in a Tracfone kit from Walmart. The guy at the store called Tracfone and set it up for me.
It has Bluetooth connectivity and I got it working by following my cars manual (new Honda).
I eventually printed out the LG420G manual from internet. It's a .pdf and I set it to 100%. It took 8 landscape 8.5 x 11 sheets that I spent over 30 minutes cutting, taping, and then folding and trimming. each 'page' (14) is about 4"x7". All readable.
The key above the '2' has a 'C', a '.', and a 'backspace'. I figured out that the key acts like a backspace/erase when typing text. But what is the '.' and the 'C' for? How do you get to these?
I'm trying to install the Bluetooth Software... a file is missing... anybody have a copy of BTW_CI.DLL? I can't find it anywhere. All the sites that say they have it are hawking their registry scanners. I just want a copy of the file... that's all.

I have a manual that was made by someone here on the boards... it's a PDF... it's pretty good. Try this link... I put it online so you can download it... LG 420g Manual
I don't know what those keys are either... maybe with this new manual you can figure it out and let us know.
