[Q] Need Help Getting Data & MMS on PagePlus with HTC EVO 3D

I have inherited a HTC EVO 3D.

My old phone (Samung Omni I910) was great for phone and messaging, but
sucked when it came to surfing the web.

I got the MSL/SPC code through CDMA WS.

I changed the MSL/SPC to "000000"

I then changed my MDN, MIN, & Installed a P+ prl.

I called P+ CS and did the over the air programing which showed programing complete.

The phone and text messaging works fine.

My download speeds are 120K Down 110 Up.

MMS Does not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the last 5 or 6 pages of the evo on page plus thread. It should work for the 3d also

This forum is “USELESS” for difficult problems you may have with you handset or the MVNO.

If all your looking for is just a setting, or how use a feature it’s fine, but if you really want to understand
Your phone’s secrets this is the wrong place.

Even XDA-Developers won’t tell you everything you want to know.
Sure they tell you to use this program or that (CDMA Workshop, QXDM, QPST, ADB) but no one will tell you what you really need to know in order to fully use them.

Instead they give out one nugget of information at a time and tell you to read or google the rest.
I think it’s either a legal consideration, or an ego thing.
The second someone gives out too much information their post is deleted and their warned not to do it again.

In my case I was just trying to just get my Sprint EVO 3D to work properly on PagePlus.
Not trying to break any rules or laws. There is no valid reason for not allowing me what I am paying for.
It doesn’t have a bad ESN. There is no balance due. The only answer is that they say you can bring any phone you want to PagePlus, but god help you if you need more than basic technical support.

This attitude has basically caused me to commit a semi-illegal act.

My Page Plus data speeds are ridiculously low 120Kps Down and 90Kps up.
The reason for this lies with the NVitems HA & AAA shared secret info in both Profile 0 and Profile 1.
I didn’t believe this was true at first and thought the secret name was “VZW”.
After I rooted my phone and changed my SPC to all zeros. I made a nand backup before I started tinkering. Thinking that this would protect me. WRONG
While it does protect the ROM side of your phone it does nothing for the RADIO side (This is where your NVItems are stored).

While working with the NVItems I mistakenly overwrote my NVitems HA & AAA shared secret
Passwords with the “VZW” password (BIG MISTAKE).

Finally 8 different forums later , a gentleman took pity on me and pm’d me explaining that if the NVitems HA & AAA shared secret passwords in both profile 0 and profile 1 were incorrect I would never get any decent data speed.
He even explained how to read them with QXDM. Unfortunately because I had over written them with “VZW” they were gone for good. The nand backup does not back them up.
I tested his theory by taking a Droid Eris that was just taken off of Verizon, and calling PagePlus and switching ESN’s on my plan.

I was almost immediately getting speeds of 700 to 900 kps as detected from speedtest.xxx.
To further test the point I changed the NVitems HA & AAA shared secret passwords (I first used QXDM to back up the originals) and was back to my pity full data speeds. Put back the original NVitems HA & AAA shared secret passwords, and the speed went write back up.

Now the Semi-illegal part.
Because there is no way to get back my NVitems HA & AAA shared secret passwords on the EVO 3D. I will be using the Eris as a donor phone. Changing the MEID, ESN, etc. of the EVO 3D to that of the Eris including the NVitems HA & AAA shared secret passwords. The semi-illegal part is that it is normally illegal to change your ESN, however since I own both phones this is a grey area.

I will be making that conversion this weekend. I will let you know how it goes.

Nice write up. I am fiddling with an evo as well. Like you I wrote over a number as well... Can't remember the exact one since I am working on a laptop...

Yes it does work for the EVO 3D i have tested myself, It should work for other Android phones.... Nevermind i got the WEB/MMS to work with page plus cellular....I have successfully made the Bionic/RAZR/Thunderbolt/EVO 3D/Shift with with WEB/MMS..... Im messing around with the EVO 4G But still not luck with that

What kind of download speeds are you getting with that configuration ?

I will attempt to do this soon. I currently own (and using) Droid Eris on PP. Once I use it as a "donor" phone to pull the information onto my flashed EVO 4G....will I still be able to use the Droid Eris for normal use? i.e. pull info, enter data, then resume as normal?
