Trying to decide which new iPad to get and use with AT&T service

I have a grandfathered unlimited iPad data plan that I am currently using with my iPad 2. I was going to purchase the AT&T 3rd generation iPad to be able to use LTE and HSPA+ but according to AT&Ts map I will only be in HSPA+ coverage almost all of the time. I've been reading all the stories online about people buying the Verizon iPad and using their AT&T sim card. Assuming that AT&T rolls out their LTE coverage as painfully slow as they did 3G coverage then I probably won't be fully covered with AT&T LTE for a few years. With that being said if I get the Verizon iPad would I be able to use everything but AT&T LTE and switch to Verizon service if I ever need to get faster data speeds?

And with Verizon, you get tethering at no extra charge. AT&T will probably ding you at some point and make you cough up more bux.

Its been confirmed that a Verizon iPad will run with an AT&T micro-SIM Verizon iPad running with AT&T SIM installed http://www.tuaw.com/2012/03/16/veriz...sim-installed/

You are good, i would say to get the ATT iPad, why get the verizon one, verizon does not have unlimited data at all so why waste time and also the price is the same.

SO i would get the iPad 3, the Jailbreak is allready out for 5.1.0 for the iPad 3 it is tethered but its still out. You can easily download the tethering software on the device and use it, i dont think ATT is going to start checking to see if people are tethering on there iPad devices but at the same they might just.

But for the most part i think u should just get the ipad 3, i know iam going to get it real soon.

I had the Verizon iPad before exchanging it and yes, just make sure you keep your active SIM out of your iPad 2 and put back in it. Then you have to change your APN settings to HSPA+
Current Device: White 16 GB iPhone 5
Carrier: Appalachian Wireless (LTE in Rural America Partner)

I would go with the Verizon iPad cause it gives you the best of both worlds and it has greater resell value
