Which Android device are you wanting to setup with LTE? Are you just going to use programs like Skype/Steam for communication? I actually know people that do this.

To be honest I don't know that I want a current Android device, other than for specific apps like GrooveIP. But either way please do tell us how the individuals you know went about activating the device.
I saw this article last night and strangely it suggests 3G works but not LTE?

The Razr. No need for making phone calls or sending/receiving text messages. My company provides me with a cell phone for phone calls, and I use Google Voice for text messages. The iPad/tablet LTE $30/month 2GB data only pre-paid plan would be perfect for me, assuming a SIM with that plan would work without issues in a smartphone device.

Some posts in the threads about the reverse had information saying that it works either way. A SIM moved keeps all features as configured when moved to a new device, regardless of device type. If you ever did make a phone call, it would be charged at some high per minute rate, but it would work just fine.

well i dont know anything cause im just a fool but seems like the trick to get this working at the moment is to somehow change your imei number to match your hotspot devices imei number seeing how thats the only thing prompting it to acivate voice plan. ive known many people to do this with the galaxy line

    This works without additional setup.
Try it. Just go to a verizon store, pop a sim out of an iPad, and slide it into a Droid Razor. Bam, data.
$30/mth Unlimited iPad Sim in an Iphone 4 w/ 'broadband' APN + Skype & Unlimited AT&T hotspots.
(Past carriers include Verizon, Sprint Sero, Sprint ERP, & AT&T prepaid)

You don't mean a sim from a iPad at the store do you? (like I said I'm not that bright)

You can use 4G data only sims in smartphones.

I purchased a 4G LTE hotspot with 4GB a month, took the sim out and placed it in a HTC rezound. The Rezound accepts mini sims (regular) but I could not use the hotspot feature and rooting ICS on it proved difficult. I gave up and bought a Motorola Razr, cut the sim to micro size, and now it works great. I use google voice with talkatone app that lets you receive & make calls and I am using FoxFi for my hotspot.
