Fujitsu F-05D is unlocked but will not connect to Australian netwoks.

Hi guys sorry, I imagine you get heaps of threads like this from phone noobs, I had a search but didn't find much.

I was told the phone was unlocked at a docomo store and the phone should work in Australia on GSM and 3G. I have tried three sim cards and each one comes up with the correct carriers name on the phone but it refuses to connect either automatically or manually to the network.

I have contacted the seller and am waiting on a reply, I really have no idea what to do, at the moment it is a very expensive MP3 player and heart rate checker.

    Thanks.

Did it make a call on the docomo network after unlocking? I heard that you need to make at least one call on a unlocked docomo phone until it actually can use other SIM cards.

And what network are you on? I think a member on here had a problem with his SH-10C on vodafone AU.

Based on his other post he bought it from kyoto-exports, who's done this type of unlock for quite a while now. I'm fairly certain the unlock process isn't the issue.

I'd contact kyoto-exports either on here or eBay (assuming that's where you bought it) and see what he can do.

Thanks guys it is from kyoto Exports and he is being very helpful and has offered to reimburse me for postage back to him. I want to make sure it's not user error, should I be able to just put an activated Sim in and make calls?
In the call history there are a couple of calls to 111 which may because of what qwerty stated I don't know about having to make a call to unlock it.

I have emailed my current carrier to see if there is anything they can do as they told me the phone had registered on their network but I still get no service.

This is a known problem, does not necessarily send the phone back to Japan if he was really unlocked, simply insert any simcard DoCoMo (you can not active) on the phone. When the phone is switched on, just run around 1-2 minutes on the menu, all ))) you can insert your simcard and it should work. The main find out exactly unlock the phone or have forgotten ....

It was the user not the phone, the phone is fine I just couldn't get the phone to enter the add new APN screen, all I had to do was tap the bottom left button which pops up a sub menu.

It all works and 3G works flawlessly which was my main concern

I certainly did, I may have to buy a spare battery in the future as with wi-fi, data etc etc switched off it still runs flat really quickly.

I also think this phone will be useless in our summer as it is already giving me overheating warnings when playing one of the games I downloaded, the phone runs crazy hot but it may just be bad programming in the game so I will try others.

I'm having the same problem here in the US. He told me it would work pom AT&T's 3G GSM network. Can you tell me step by step what you did to make it connect? Thank you in advanced.

Disregard last post, I finally got it to work, except for MMS. I receive and send SMS, but not MMS. Are you having the same problem?

You need to set your mms settings- I think it's in the same menu where you input the APN.

yes I have that in capital letters, MMS still not working, I read other threads that you have to have 2 apn settings, I also tried that without any results. Anyone else have other ideas?
I can't post my settings, I'm new on HF and I don't have privileges to post anything looking like a web link.

Are you using the SP Mode email software? Or Go SMS/Handcent etc?

If SP Mode is anything like the stock Softbank S!Mail application you wont get it working overseas. Just not possible, as it is hardcoded to try to connect to the softbank mail servers. (in your case the Docomo mail servers)
