I hate my mesmerize...
Loved it at first, had the same phone from uscc for 4 or 5 years before finally getting my first smartphone. The battery life sucked but had no major complaints. Then I upgraded to 2.3.4 and now it's a piece of crap. Tried a factory reset and starting from scratch, some issues cleared up and some remained. I'm tired of fighting my phone, I just want it to work...
I'm in So. NH so I'm married to uscc, like it or not. Have 7550 points built up and am I'm eligible for an upgrade in 1 month, 10 days from today. No 4G in my area, yet. Possibly in 2nd half of 2012 their site says. Thoughts? advice?

With enough points you could get a device for 1 penny. it depends on the device and the amount of points. So for example if you have 37900 points and you are eligable for an upgrade you can get an Galaxy S II for 1 penny. So with 7550 points I would see a store to find out what is available for that amount. My understanding is not much.

i like my mesmerize but its battery life is crap and i have never had a phone where the battery life goes down WHILE IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER! i have had it plugged up and unplugged it and it says like 74 percent battery left im like wtf

My wife was like you, she loved her mez at first then grew to hate it. I rooted it and put a ICS rom on it about a month ago and she likes it again. She's eligible to upgrade in may so hopefully something good will at least be announced by then. I'm elidgible now but will wait for something good to come out. Uscc is still king for reception in this part of Maine , plus Verizon is much more expensive. With 4G rolling out in my area I hope they announce something good soon.

Amazon is a great website to purchase extended life batteries for most of the higher end phones. I too didn't like the battery life of any of the smartphones I've had. Recently bought one for galaxy s2 for 19 bucks shipped, my battery now lasts 2 full days of normal use(which is quite a bit). Extended life batteries are bulkier but come with new back cover for the phone and some you can also get a case that also fits perfectly, like mine from trexcell. Where's the dialtone?
My wife and I both had the mez. At first they were great, but within a few weeks I was having problems; it would reboot and lock randomly and the battery would last maybe a few hours. I turned everything off, still had battery problems. I was able to sell both for a profit luckily. My wife has the Electrify currently and she likes it, I am on my old BB Curve 8330 till I decide what we are going to do.

The mesmerize is a good phone, it just comes with bad software. I would suggest you go to rootzwiki and read up on the custom roms and kernels. I have ice cream sandwich on mine and couldn't be happier. I'm running aokp build 28 with the glitch kernel.

If you put a different rom on the phone that isn't touch wiz based. You can use the larger 1800 mah battery that came with the Sprint Epic 4g touch (Galaxy S2). The battery is the same size as the current battery. Just larger mah.

Can you point me to the location you obtained this ROM from? When I searched for it on XDA I could only find it for the Samsung Fascinate. It is my understanding that is Verizon specific so I didn't want to brick my phone. Please let me know if I am incorrect.

XDA doesn't have any new roms for the mesmerize. The devs had a falling out and all the mesmerize devs went to rootzwiki.com. There's a lot of mesmerize roms over there. The fascinate roms are the same, but you have to edit 3 files to make it work right on us cellular.

I gave up on my Mes yesterday. I went back to my old standby...a Motorola V9m...the mes was ok if I could handle it locking up constantly...completely missing calls...not letting me know if there was a voicemail...the touchscreen locking up when working with certain apps, etc...It's sad when I have my Razr charging on my desk, next my Mes, get a call, yet the Mes doesn't ring or notify me of a voicemail, but my Razr does, and it's not even active on the account. When it first came out it was great, but with each update they'd fix something and foul something else up...like someone said in another post...it'll be a mini tablet for now and I'll use it to stream music out in my garage from my wifi. What a piece of junk.

Go to this Mesmerize Facebook group, have links to all the Roms for Mez, lots of info on the Mez, and lot of people to help you with you Mez. I am running ICS Rom, AOKP Build 40 with Devil kernal. My Mez runs smooth, great battery life, and is very fast. Links to all the roms in the group, and best of all, the roms there you don't have to do any editing to run on your Mez, it is already done for you. Best of luck.
