I made a couple of experiments.

Decided to try and kill (remove?) two apps that run by default, which I don't need.

Found out that I must type the command "pm disable jp.softbank.bookmanager" in order to do so.

As you can see on the first attached screenshot, I seem to have managed to "kill" the two apps but after reboot the Book app is still in the list of cached processes.

This was because the leading symbol displayed was the $ - and this article says "run copy AU" if you see "$" - you need to see "#".

So I ran it and the leading symbol changed to #.

The result was different - and, according to the article, what I should get if successful.

    And the good news:

So, what's the command for disabling the SIM lock?

EDIT: I'm wondering what apps can be disabled that will not interfere with the normal functioning of the phone...

For example, I don't need the SoftBank Hotspot app (jp.co.softbank.wispr.froyo) but if I disable it, am I going to have problems with Wi-Fi?
I also don't need the OneSeg tuner, which is running all the time (but doesn't show in the default Running Processes) and the Felica app.

Another question is, can the disabled app be physically removed from the phone's onboard storage? Perhaps typing the relevant SSH command will do it?

If you want to restore the disabled application, just type:
    Code:
    "pm enable jp.softbank.bookmanager"
I just enabled the bookmanager - will probably disable it again as it launches on every reboot and I don't really need it.

I've been advised against attempting to physically remove (uninstall) SoftBank apps to avoid bricking the phone. I will wait until I get confirmation this is safe.

Meanwhile, I've found out that most of the apps you don't want can be disabled without a problem - but the Sharp DLNA DMS app can't be disabled.
From what I've gleaned from Japanese sites, there are over a dozen, even over 20 apps, that can be safely disabled without affecting the phone's behaviour.

You cannot, however, remove them. I first tried the "pm uninstall" command on an app I'd just installed, and it was removed instantly. But when I tried the same command on the Viewn app, it failed, and a minute later the phone became quite unstable - I couldn't exit to the Home screen - some error that "Home is not responding" and when I tap "OK" (only option), the same error dialog pops up again... until I rebooted.

I have found something else (some "open source" thing ... whatever that means). Unfortunatly I can't put the google translated link because of some google error. I hope this helps for something.....

    For 003SH:
    https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/m...dex.php?/003sh

    For 005SH:
    https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/m...dex.php?/005sh

    For 007SH:
    https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/m...dex.php?/007sh

    For 007SHJ:

    For 007SHKT:

And this is about SHARP SDK AddOn downloads: https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/m...index.php?/sdk

If someone understands japanese and knows a lot about these kind of things please go to https://sh-dev.sharp.co.jp/android/ and tell us what is that all about

It is the SDK for developing apps for Sharp phones. Nothing about unlocking them!

Well ... I've just sent a message to softbank's youtube channel (because they don't have an email to ask them quesitons (or at least I didn't find it in their page) ) to simply ask them how to software unlock the phone xD. I'd be lucky, first, if they understand my message (it's in english), and second if they reply anything at all. But well, I have nothing to loose, luckly sending emails and messages is free xD

More news (not about root) : Apparently, there are many places in vietnam where they unlock 003SH. I have no idea the price, warranty or anything, just to tell you that kokos doesn't seem to be the only one in the world who does it xD. This information is completly useless for me and many others, but if there are some vietnamese forum users, they can search "unlock 003SH" in google, and after many pages, the results will come up.

The unlocking method will come out sooner or later. It always does.

It is a code or a flash?

I have NO idea if it is code or flash (I don't know anything about this). I better put here the pages I found, so that the users don't have to search:

    http://www.depmely.com/product/Unloc...03SH_005sh-531
    http://sharpmobile.vn/unlock-softbank-003sh_id474.html
    http://www.jmp.vn/Dien_Thoai_Nhat/Un...3SH/2/281.html

Maybe there was 1 or 2 more. ... Anyways, I find it kinda strange that they unlock ONLY the 003SH but not the 005SH which, from what I understand, it's the same exact software.

The first link advertises the unlock for both the 003SH and the 005SH. And the price! 150,000 vietnamese dong equal 7.2 USD!!!
    Hope this method spreads faster!

Well if you saw the 2CH threads, you will see every second or third post is someone saying "root didnt work, stuck in Galapagos logo loop", with the responses being "bad luck, go take it to Softbank for repairs"

The rooting process for these phones is still very much an experimental process. Certainly not the one-click root that the HTCs etc have
