Well, the good news is that you can connect via ADB while you are in that 'locked' state. So theoretically, you can get root using the rootkit (I havent tried it though - and it means you have to 'trust' that the image writing to recovery partition worked correctly (because you cannot run the phone to test it).

I would just get a cheap hypersim and use that though.

One thing that might help, and i would be very grateful for; is if you can get a copy of the phone.apk and phone.odex from the locked phone? I would like to see if the 'features lock' (the lock screen that prevents you from doing anything when you dont have a sim in the phone), is achieved by this APK, and whether replacing it with an 'unlocked' version would be an easy way around it.

You can do this without getting root access. The Phone.apk and Phone.odex are in the /system/app directory and you should be able to pull them from the phone using ADB.

Honestly, softbank phones repair success% is very low.
Most japan mobile phone shop won't receive customer's softbank except docomo one.
I asked them before, they said docomo can fully repair more than softbank one.
Thats why softbank phones are very cheap after the 1st month released.

Plus, the local will not using softbank unless they want iphone.
Younger usually buy au and docomo, only businessman will buy softbank.

Actually one of them has a softbank SIM card, which I move from one to another to test them. I guess I'll be able to dump the files you need in a SIM/SIMless situation, but I think there'll be no difference between them.

Another valid approach would be looking for a .lock file which would be generated whenever the device is booted up without a SIM card. This is my first android experience, but from what I've learned in my linux's times, we must look in another places for files generated this way. Does android have a temp folder for this stuff or something similar?

As soon as I got home (at work right now), I'll start doing some research.

And, as a last wish... I'd really apreciate some hypersim recommendations easily available to some folk in Brazil like yours truly. hahaha.

Cheers from Brazil, and I'll be watching this thread.

This one works for me just fine: http://www.ipmart.com/main/product/U...hp?prod=145293 And they've reduced the price. It doesn't work for SuperSZ for some weird reason though (but not just this hypersim). It connects to 3G as well and is as stable as hypersims get (in my experience).

    You are lucky.
I have two hypersim, one from dealextreme and this one from ipmart.
DExtreme have bad signal but 3g works fine.
On the contrary IPmart have a really good signal, low CPR but no 3G >.<

    I don't know why xD

DealExtreme is really cheap and good too ^^
    Aye Sir ^_^ o/

That's for rooting the phone. However, the best way to root it is with this: http://sharp.cheeseus.org/index.php?...ications&id=48 rootkit.
