Thanks for the warning, but it's about a month late. Anyway, I updated and haven't had any problems. For anyone who's considering updating, be sure to use RootKeeper first, so you can re-root afterwards.

If you are rooted and have RootKeeper (aka Voodoo OTA RootKeeper) installed before updating, it will root your phone for you after the update. Just follow the instructions here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...otkeeper&hl=en
If you don't have it installed before you update, it can't help you.
Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper worked on the latest update for my Droid X2. Run Voodoo, backup su, update, run Voodo again, restore su.![]()
I just got my Droid X this week from Cowboom and it already had the update. Using the various links provided in the OP, I was able to go backwards to 6.04 and successfully root--yay! Is there any reason I can't just delete the vzw_update.apk? Won't doing so prevent any more OTAs from pushing through?
I wouldn't delete it. You might decide you want to update in the future. I just rename unwanted apks (I add .bak) so they become inoperative. That way you can restore them by changing the name back. You can also use Titanium Backup (paid version only) to "freeze" apps.
