Trust me, use 300MB in 1 day on the AT&T SIM and I can pretty much assure you that ST will give you a 'nice' call about it. I don't know how long you've been with ST but you can see some of the diff experiences in the $45 Unlocked SIM Data Limit thread.

Use 300MB in one day on rare occasion you will likely fly under the radar. Do it several days in a row or routinely and you will be flagged.

Yeah... ATT was (is?) targeting top 5% users in specific market segments.... so ST may do the same; given the different feedback we've heard Re: what actually constitutes excess use. That strategy while a little dirty in relation to TOS, does make good business sense to me.

We know ST pays a wholesale rate for data to AT&T. It is possible AT&T charges them more for data in congested areas and hence they crack down more on ppl in those area. But that's just pure conjecture at that point. Bottom line is no one knows for sure what triggers ST warnings and eventual termination.

That seems to be the un written rule...i just got on ST this week and I gave my data counters set at that. I'm not taking any chances. Don't want to go back to slow VM again.

Just get free version of watchdog app from store and set it to 2gb and you should be safe if you are worried about going over. I installed that and data lock and have data lock set at 100mb a day so I should be totally safe.

Got a warning call today (approaching 2gb). My first month of "unlimited". Been with net10 for 5 years, going to switch. Here's why.

Unlimited is NOT unlimited. Even if they give you 2gb/mo, it's a RESTRICTED 2gb ! (yes it's in the T&C, AFTER you buy the SIM card. and i'm sure everyone read it, just like all the papers they signed for their mortgage).

You CANNOT stream video, or even audio , ie a podcast, record a Tune In radio show overnight, etc. Just visit websites, and don't even think of downloading anything !

They want you to only make a few calls, a few texts, a few emails, and some light surfing. They want unsophisticated Trac-fone like customers who only talk and check the weather.

ST/Net10 want low usage users but more dollars out of them. $45/mo is an average deal with these restrictions for one person. But if you and your wife both sign up, it's over $90/month and you have to be careful everytime you use it. We went with unlimited to not have to worry about these things, but it seems like that's impossible with ST/Net10.

If they have a supposed limit of 2gb, fine. But if we're paying for that data, why should we be restricted on what kind of data ?? Next it'll be what kind of websites we can visit !

And yes, i'm heading to the FTC website right now.

I support your decision and you are dead on. The people that defend ST confuse me. Time to get this ridiculous, devious, false advertising nonsense stopped. Haven't heard the same negative garbage about Pageplus. Granted it is only one GB data on the 55 plan but at least it is Verizon network..

ST's initial come on line is a little duplicitous and some people will unecessarily get burned. That being said If you don't use that much data or want to play the game, it is a great value proposition for some... To me the thing is that you can get very powerful (data hog) phones relatively inexpensively and blow throught the data cap following the TOS to the T. Would be nice if there was an explicit cap and we could credit a reserve that would be debited if we go through it. Just my 2 c. I've been happy with the service relative to my needs, but empathize with those who have gotten burned.
