Good point! I just thought that being the "simple and easy" choice they would want to simplify as much as they can.

    Good move on the voicemail.

The $45 12 month MM is cheaper than 35 FnF isn't it? Amazing price!

Yeah, that was me wondering about the multi-month discounts. I just did a comparison... the prices haven't changed from before, but they now reflect the new plans with their respective features.

Also, I noticed they removed the one-day data plans they had going for those who only need data for emergency purposes etc. Oh well.

I think the better deal isn't with their regular plan prices, its the multi month.
On 3 month MM the $45 all-in works out to $36/mo, with just $108 +GST upfront. Very attractive! A lot of Big 3 subs are at that level monthly, and getting a whole lot less. Paying for 12 gets you down to 31.50, 378 +GST upfront.
In the AWS/cellular context, TAFL is Industry Canada's list of all base stations in operation, as submitted by the spectrum licensee the month prior.

The underlying database is Industry Canada's Assignment and Licensing System (ALS)
A subset of the ALS is published monthly as the Technical and Administrative Frequency Lists (TAFL)
Real-time access to the AWS/cellular data of ALS is provided by Spectrum Direct's (SD) Geographical Area Search

I think in a way it's a good move. I know I use to use the data passes with Rogers and they added up really fast. Eventually got a data plan and was saving a lot of money. If you really want data you can just connect to a wifi hotspot and if you need it that often you should be getting the data addon will probably make you use it more if you have it for the month instead for the day.

They could have really sell the $55 plan if only they had allowed rolling NA roaming minutes for that plan only. Its not too late right now either, they could include it and see their ARPU rise.

    Line 1: MMo45 for $30/M
    Line 2: Wish40 for $35/M
    Line 3: Wish40 for $35/M
    Line 4: Wish40 for $35/M

Added the $5 voicemail to my BTS plan

$31.90 after tax now and to think I considered the $29 WIND "Oh Canada" plan at one point. Glad I chose Mobilicity instead.

Well it appears that the $10 unlimited data and $15 BIS add-ons are still around. So the entry-level for an unlimited data plan on Mobilicity is still $35 (outside of the BTS promo). So it looks like these plans are an across-the-board improvement over the previous regular plans. The promos are better but that's to be expected obviously.

Mobi's $25 used to be weak compared to WIND and in some ways paled in comparison to Chatr. But Mobi's $25 is very strong now.

I think the concept of charging Canadian long distance and for voicemail is still crazy. But the whole point of not including these things in the $25 plan is to encourage people to sign with the $35 plan (or higher). The profit margins are greater for the $35 plan than the $25. And Mobilicity have to have a $25 plan because WIND Mobile, Public Mobile and Chatr do... It is what it is.

Does voicemail work if you have no reception or if you're roaming? I read in the past it charges you but I think that may only have been for the other method using call forwarding to external voicemai #.

Would Mobilicity increase the cost of the current voicemail add-on in the future, or is $5 the new price from now on?

Knowing that lots of people are on the 25 BTS, I find it odd that Mobilicity would cut voicemail down to $5. There was a mass exodus to WIND though. They'd rather retain someone at $30-35/month (assuming profitability at that range) than see them leave for WIND.

This isn't true. I asked a few dealers about which plan people like most. All of them said the 40 bts is what people usually prefer and most of them go for it

I was just reading the Mobilicity press release on the changes.

    And this caught my eye:
Free incoming text messages are now also included on all its plans while roaming.

Nice catch! I would assume when they say "all plans" they also mean existing plans and not just the new plans that were recently introduced?

Hopefully, that free incoming text messages while roaming also includes grandfathered rate plans.

For almost 2 years, Mobilicity kept getting defensive when questioned about the tactic of charging for these messages that the customers could not control, could not refuse, and were automatically charged for. Even the previous CEO kept saying that they charge less for outgoing texts while roaming than other companies as a justification while completely missing the point and not addressing the issue of it being an unfair charge. Charging for something that customers can't control was rather Big 3-like. Mobilicity surely received an earful from customers about this tactic and it's good to see that Mobilicity has FINALLY responded appropriately to it. This is a very positive change.
