    Mobilicity launches new plans with included voice roaming

    Mobilicity bucks industry trend by
    loading over 30% more value into new rate card

    Fastest-growing new entrant adds voice roaming and data to most plans
    without raising rates; offers big savings over other carriers

    Toronto, ON – April 2, 2012 – Just when everyone thought Mobilicity couldn’t add any more value into its Unlimited Everything plan, the rising carrier today launched its new rate card with over 30% more value.

    Mobilicity’s top-of-the-line plan now comes with 60 free minutes of voice roaming and free phone protection while its new $45 plan includes unlimited data, and 30 minutes of free voice roaming.

    In sharp contrast to its new entrant peers, who recently increased their wireless rates, and Big 3 carriers known for charging among the highest rates in the developed world, Mobilicity added the new features into the plans without raising prices.

    “Mobilicity is the fastest-growing new carrier because we continue to be the best deal in wireless and our new rate card is another homerun for consumers,” said Chief Customer Officer Anthony Booth. “More and more Canadians are speaking with their wallets and are making their move to Mobilicity.”

    The new rate card also marks the debut of voice roaming minutes included in most of its new plans for easy and affordable flat-rate calling across North America. Free incoming text messages are now also included on all its plans while roaming.

    Key additions to the new rate card
    - Mobilicity’s $25 Unlimited Starter plan includes unlimited province-wide long distance and advanced calling features;
    - Mobilicity’s $35 Unlimited Plus plan includes unlimited Canada-wide long distance, global text, light data (email with social networking or BlackBerry Messenger) and 15 minutes of voice roaming;
    - Mobilicity’s $45 Unlimited Value plan includes unlimited data and 30 minutes of voice roaming; and
    - Mobilicity’s $55 Unlimited Everything plan includes free phone protection and 60 minutes of voice roaming.

    Today’s announcement takes Mobilicity’s position as Canada’s smart carrier into high gear as an increasing number of smart, value-conscious consumers continue to switch to Mobilicity for unbeatable value. In the fourth quarter of 2011, Mobilicity gained more net new customers than all other new entrants and two of the Big 3 carriers.

    Anyone know if the free incoming text messaging applies only to the new plans or also to the existing plans?

    if this is only for the new plans, then what about those of us that have stuck around a while?

    I'm waiting to hear more details about this regarding existing plan holders....

    Do you have money in MyWallet? I've heard that if there's no money in MyWallet, you won't be charged but if you put money in there, you'll be charged. No sure if they changed the rules since the new plan though.

    Tested the incoming text change.
    I was only charged for the texts I sent, not the text I recieved.

    The cost for a sent text is still the same (10cents), and I didn't get charged for incoming texts.

    I do have money in my wallet, so I can log the transactions easily.

    This is a very welcome change. Thank you mobilicity.

    And this is why we love Mobi. If WIND was put in the same situation, I'm not so sure they'd change it.

    Good to see the change.
    I am not so concerned with using voice calls while roaming as the rate is quite low, but was concerned with geting charged for incoming messages which I had no control of.

    I think you can still receive texts while you're roaming. Because while I was in St. Catharines a while back. I received texts still.

    Wind is too concerned with expansion. Having little coverage everywhere... I like mobilicity's approach to concentrate on a smaller coverage area but providing excellent service and coverage. I know that there are still some holes in the coverage but they're definitely working on it.

    In any city that Mobi has service for the same coverage area WIND has almost double the number of towers.
