Wow, your advice about pulling the battery out for few minutes worked!! Not sure why, but it is still unacceptable for customers to do this every once in a while. If they can't fix this permanently, i wonder if i can get a reasonable replacement like T404G.

Like I said TF/Net10 write their own OS and as with any badly written software you need to reboot it once in awhile to clean it out . Glad it worked , remember that for next time and use it as the first corrective action you take when your phone starts acting up. If you get the T404G remember you're going from a Verizon phone (Samsung R455C) to one that uses AT&T or T-Mobile in case you have coverage issues. Good luck.

Mine randomly turns off when I slide it open too. Not very often so it hasn't been a huge problem. I make it a habit to restart my phone. My gf's R455c doesn't have this problem so I'm wondering if it's a hardware thing.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

Some random settings questions for this phone....

*What is the system select for? It gives me two options... home only and automatic. Not sure what my default setting is.

*What is the PC connection setting for? I am assuming you need a usb plug to plug into the computer? It says usb mass storage or no connection as my two options.

*What is voice privacy? It gives me two options of standard or enhanced.

*what is location? The two options it gives me is location on and 911 only.

Thanks in advance. I think I did a search and didn't find anything on this. If it's a repeat, I apologize.

Leave it on automatic that way when you can't access what it considers your 'Home' network it will connect to what's available. If we got charged more to roam to other systems you might want to limit it to the 'Home Only' to avoid higher charges but we don't so 'Automatic' just helps us stay connected to any network our phone can use (CDMA of course). The only time I can see wanting to use 'Home Only' with our phones is if your phone bounces between Home and Roam while you're at home then you might want to use it to stay on your 'Home' network, non-Home connections usually come with data problems like not being able to use the internet and not getting messages.

That is how you want it to handle cable connections between your phone and PC. If you want to be able to work with the memory card and transfer files select 'Mass Storage', if you never want it to communicate with your phone's memory card you select 'No Connection' then the cable port will only be good for charging. I'd leave it on 'Mass Storage'.

Maybe someone else can explain that one, the best I can figure is it encrypts the calls between cell phone and tower more than what it currently does if the standard does any encrypting at all. That's just a guess, I just know the 'Enhanced' privacy setting is suppose to make it harder for someone to intercept/hear your conversation but for me the voice quality goes to crap using 'Enhanced' so I just leave it on 'Standard'.

Supposedly it helps make locating you easier, how it works (if it works on our phones) I don't know but they don't have GPS so it's not sending your GPS coordinates. Maybe it helps the towers better triangulate on you, don't know. But, if it really does do anything on our phones you are deciding if you only want to help people locate you anytime your phone is on or only if you connect to 911 services. I just leave it on for everyone and hope it really helps if I ever need it to be working. I figure if I'm unconscious in a ditch and location is on maybe it will help them locate my phone easier than if it's on '911 Only'.

No help there, I quit using T9 because I couldn't get it to add new words, they never took. Good luck.

BobbyLee same here. I couldn't get to add new words. I still use t9 because I am quicker on that instead of the side keypad. I use what I call t9/abc combo. lol. All the words that work I use and the ones I can't get, I use partials to stick the words together. It works for me. lol

Do you have any games/apps on this phone?

No games, Opera Mini browser, UC Browser, Facebook app, GMail app (version 1.5), and Yahoo mail app (worked great until one or two weeks ago, now it won't connect, keeps giving me "We encountered a problem. Please try again later"). That's all I have.

EDIT: Just downloaded and reinstalled the Yahoo mail app and it works again, go figure.

I have the opera mini browser. I have two flashlight apps, and like 20 games. Where did you get the yahoo mail app?

Go to m.getjar.com on your phone and on the bottom select Quick Downloads, on the next page where it asks for the download code it's 36307, on the next page hit the download button by the Y! Mail app it brings up.

The R455C does have GPS, but it's made for E911, not for apps to or whatever else. That's one perk to a CDMA TracFone; most of them have GPS for E911, while their GSM counterparts may not.

OK, so they do have a GPS receiver in the CDMA phones but apps don't have the permission to access the GPS information? Good, then that Location function actually serves a purpose on our phone and they'll have the information to find me if I need them to find me. Guess I'll have to leave the phone home or pull the battery if I don't want the authorities to know where I've been but make sure I have it when I go camping and hiking. Thanks, good to know.

I've installed Opera Mini 7 on my R455c. I live in an area (mtn's) that has no cell service from any carrier. I was curious about what items you may have included or use in Opera. I've always used FireFox on my computers and I'm new to Opera and not sure of its interface. TIA.
