Will they kick you off for using too much 3g? I got booted from straight talk for streaming audio too much. Although simple is slow, I can stream news audio.

that it's really unlimited and that Simple Mobile has changed it from suspend to throttle back in late 2011.
I'm up to 1.5 GB's now in a span of 2 and a half weeks and I plan to max out the data consumption on the last week just to see what happens. I think they will just throttle me to 120 Kbps after 2GB but I will definitely keep you posted.
I had to do this in two posts since the HTC Vivid I'm currently testing out on Straight Talk accidentally hit post. Typing is so hard on it...the keyboard is so small - I still don't understand how anyone can manage.
I'm talking about their $40 plan they call 3g which is really 2g speed.

I've seen customers cutoff on their $40 plan. It is possible. I would recommend tmobile

The $40 and $60 plans will have the same data limits if there are any.
So if people have been quicked off on using a certain amount of data on the $60 plan then they it's possible to get kicked off for using that much on the $40 plan too.
Have you heard of any recent customers being cutoff? If so, at what amount?
THANKS
Haven't met a customer who has been keeping track of data. But I have seen customers cut off with a 6 days of plan renewal. It's ridiculous sometimes as if the data counter didn't restart.
Last time I saw a customer who had been cutoff was about a week ago. It isn't that common but 4-6 a month that I see.
It's always guys though so I assume they go and kill their data on porn haha
I'll keep an eye out if the cutoffs are unusually low.

Thanks for that info...I've used 1.5 GB so far in a little less than 3 weeks and I plan to use as much as possible on the last week - streaming videos & audio and let's see what they do. I will definitely go above 2 GB and keep pushing it to see if they really do shut off data or throttle. Hopefully, they won't touch my voice calls & text.
By the looks of this, the limit seems to be around 3gb.
Although it seems that they used 3gb in a week.
Am not sure if that's the case, didn't ask the customer for details.

Thank you for posting that. It seems a year ago they were at 1GB then they highered it to 2GB and now it's 3GB, they keep playing with the #'s hoping less people will get suspended and there will be less complaints.
So it is a hard cap of 3GB and then suspension of only data.
2 text messages - one saying you're at risk of being suspended and the second saying you will be suspended.
I'm wondering, are these data warning messages cumulative? Like do they eventually tell you that you can't renew with them and need to take your business elsewhere?
Nah, certain customers get it month after month haha I usually recommend tmobile prepaid to them.
What I don't understand is why there was two days difference between he high usage warning and shutoff notice. As far as I knew, correct me if I'm wrong, after the high usage warning you get throttled. How much more data can you use on throttled Internet in two days time and still be considered using too much data??

WOW... I've gone three months straight of going over 2 GB and have been throttled all three times. The highest I've used in one month was approx. 2.8 GB so I never reached that 3 GB threshold that's shown in the photos above. I've also never gotten a text message or had data suspended. To use that much data in such a short time span most likely meant he/she was tethering. I ported to Straight Talk this week so we'll see if I may be coming back![]()
You know that you can't pull off that data usage on Straight Talk because they will just kick you off and you'd lose your # as well. You're saving $12 but based on the usage you have mentioned it seems that Straight Talk isn't a good option for you because they monitor both daily and monthly usage.
Have you ran speedtests with Straight Talk?
I'm wondering how the speeds compare between Simple Mobile vs Straight Talk (using T-Mobile sim of course) vs T-Mobile.
I just hit the 2GB mark this morning and have been throttled to 119 Kbps with some bursts of 140 Kbps here and there. I ran the speedtests in all the same areas which I was getting 1.5 Mbps throughout the month and even yesterday! Now I will use up the last gig in the next 5 days before I port to T-Mobile and I will report if they end up suspending the data. Will also know for sure in a week's time whether T-Mobile's data speeds are faster than Simple Moble's data speeds on the 4G plan.
