We became AT&T free about a year ago when a local ISP began offering a bundle of DSL and unlimited landline service. Well they still use AT&T's copper, but they have all their own network equipment and phone switches. Strange that AT&T decided to allow this. The ISP is now stringing their own fiber to the home, but it'll be a long time before they complete that system.
