Hi cacophony555 ~ wap.cingular is in there. The AT&T 4G/LTE smartphones mostly come programmed with one APN, and that APN directs the phone to connect with the 4G/LTE network for internet & MMS. As of now, the GoPhone network can't access the 4G/LTE system but I see that changing as T-Mobile doesn't have any of those restrictions. So if you examine the GoPhone marketed smartphones like the Fushion 2 or the Galaxy Appeal, you will notice their APNs are "wap.cingular"...this is the data/MMS system for the 3G system. I think technically it's called MEdianet. So no phone (smart or dumb) can access 4G/LTE if it's assigned GoPhone status...as of now.
On another howardforums thread(s) you'll find people throwing out some various 3G APNs with slight variations. I guess there isn't just one 3G APN and I'm not an expert on what exactly all of the fields represent. But AT&T rep just copied the Fusion 2's APN onto my Galaxy and bingo, I was able to get MMS messages. Here's what he put into mine:
Name: AT&T Wap (name doesn't really matter)
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
Port: 80
Username: blank
Password: blank
Server: blank
MMSC: hteeteepee:forwardslashforwardslashmmsc.cingular.c om
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN Type: Not set
Authentication Type: Not set
That's what he put in mine but technically I think the Fusion 2 had Authentication Type of "default, mms, supl" and the Galaxy Appeal has Authentication Type of "internet + mms". I suspect it doesn't really matter and I don't think there is one and only one 3G APN that works. Again, you'll find slight deviations. But I think the most critical fields are APN/Proxy/Port/MMSC/MMS Proxy/MMS Port/MCC/MNC. And from what I've read, which is a lot, those fields are the same, except one thread on here says that an MMS Proxy of 66.209.11.32 works. I'm guessing that's just probably the IP of wireless.cingular.com
Hope that helps! Good luck! Oh, in all of my readings & research, I don't think I've seen isp.cingular being used/needed to get 3G data on a 4G/LTE phone, in the 3G APN settings. And I'm not sure how that may affect speeds. But let me restate...as of now nobody using GoPhone service can get 4G (HSPA+) or LTE on any type of phone...it's not possible until AT&T reconfigures their network. I know this...if I needed expanded use of my cell phone, I'd give serious thought to T-Mobile's $50 unlimited plan. Unlimited talk & text plus unlimited data on any type of phone; however, at $50 you only get so much on their 4G then it tapers off to 3G and so on. But that's a pretty solid deal. I'm hoping AT&T will have something similar. The prepaid market is a growing one...we'll see what happens.

You're welcome. Oh, I noticed the apps & OS wanted to draw data (naturally) after they activated the 3G APN. Since I'm not using a data plan and don't want to pay-per-use, I switched back to the 4G APN, just to be sure the phone wouldn't suck any data. Of course you can also disable mobile data on any APN. The phone will still alert me if I get an MMS but I'll have to quickly change over to that 3G APN to download its contents. I guess I'm not interested in mobile data now despite having a 4G/LTE Android...I have enough device learning to do and I still need to forecast what kind of data I would use if on a data plan, which I'm doing through wifi use & My Data Manager or something.
"AT&T reported losing 184,000 prepaid subscribers in the first quarter "primarily due to declines in session-based tablets and declines in GoPhone," the carrier said. The figures are a reversal of the 125,000 prepaid subscribers the carrier added in the same quarter a year ago."

Yet another entry into the multi-brand prepaid wireless approach.
What does this mean for the GoPhone brand?
Will it continue as is or will it be modified and positioned to target a separate segment within the prepaid wireless arena?
Will the "All In One" Brand be a network only service like GoPhone or will it be a Premium Prepaid Service? This is a great move by AT&T, service options just seem to keep getting better for Prepaid Wireless subscribers.![]()
