T-Mobile uses SIM cards. It can't be blacklisted like a crappy CDMA company claims ownership of a device and forces them to be disposable.

Found a NIB phone on CL that a TMO customer is selling. He got the phone at a discount or free from re-signing his contract. Everything seems legit and I'm going to go check it out. My question is if he doesn't pay his bill could the phone be blacklisted while I'm using it?

T-Mobile can blacklist the phone's IMEI, but unless the phone is reported lost or stolen they generally don't.
I've heard of scams where people get handset insurance, then report the phone lost/stolen so they can file a claim for a new phone and sell the old one. Since this is Craigslist we're talking about, get the IMEI and call them to check before you buy it.
Thanks, done. Got a new G2x for $225 and an N10 TMO sim. Hopefully the thing has Gingerbread and is a later production model.
