I have a family plan with 5 lines, and all have data. This is great because the additional lines are only $5/month and data is $10/month on each. So I use one with my new iPad - it worked well for a few weeks, but suddenly yesterday I now get directed to a TMO sign up page. How do they know what device I am using ?
I know I don't get 4G with the iPad, but if I do need high speed, I could put the sim in my rooted android and get 4G speeds tethered.

Left: Apple iPhone 5 on T-Mobile Unlimited LTE, On the right CenturyLink DSL at Home:
they most likely did not have the IMEI range loaded into the system, once they loaded it in the loophole was closed.
They usually have all the iPhone/iPad IMEI's loaded so they know to "sell" you the correct plan, as the device sends it's IMEI at initial registration to the network.
They got that the new plan going on for 15 dollars extra for hotspoting this is y. Of course there is ways around it but there really upgrading there stuff somehow. As you see around here there blocking imeis and all type of crap and before this never was happening.
From my galaxy note on t-mobiles 4g with ice cream sandwiched!!
