After the money expires, you have 90 days before your account is deactivated but once a month you come to Canada, buy their $100 to have it 365 days expire day, so once a year you refill

^Actually Rogers & Fido Prepaid Number stays active for six months with zero balance. Telus is 90 Days and Bell/Virgin/Solo are120 days

I thought they keep the sim & # "alive" for 6 months. Also if they OP only comes to Canada a fews days a month and wants to use the $2/day prepaid, he should not be putting $100 in the account, because Fido will keep deducting $2 per day even when he's not in town, and not using the phone.

I think his best option is to put $10 in each time he's in town.

Now, if the OP is only here on weekends, then he can consider Rogers' $.01/minute - eve/weekend prepaid plan. For that he can put in $100, which would be good for 365 days, and he'd be charged $.01 per minute on evenings and weekends, but only if he uses the line.

If the OP is in a Wind coverage area, he can also consider Wind's Pay You Way. Free incoming, $.20/minute outgoing whether in Wind Home or Away. $40 top-up would be valid for 6 months.

ok cool you guys answered all my questions. so my number will not be lost for at least 90 - 180 days. i will just be putting in $10 when im here. so i can just use text and calls . wind is not an option because i use a unlocked rogers bold for my us usage wind will need a different phone. so far ive been using chatr and paying $25 once a month but im here like 4 or 5 days. so the fido option is better i think since it will cost like $10 a month for me. and i have an extra fido sim. also can i port my chatr number to fido and activate on this.

    thanks again.

^Actually Wind might be better if you call back to the US, You don't need a Wind Phone your Unlocked Bold will work fine because Wind's Rate on Pay your way is the same when using Wind's Network or Roaming on Rogers Network or even when Roaming on T-Mobile, The only thing use will loose out when you are in a Wind Network coverage area is that all incoming calls are free but in your case you won't be able to take advantage of it because your phone doesn't support wind 3G. Once again on Wind with your Bold you will pay. 20c a minute from anywhere in North America to Any where in North America.
