    Very General Questions

I am sorry if this has been posted elsewhere in this forum; I have searched and could not find what I wanted. My issue is this--I have a dumbphone with TMobile. I have about 10 minutes on my prepaid plan left. I want to switch to a very reasonably priced smartphone. I've deternined that the $30 prepaid plan with TMobile is a reasonable plan. A saleswoman at Walmart told me that I must purchase the $50 prepaid plan if I have a smartphone--is that true? I am not working now, and $50 is out of the question for me right now.

Also, I would like a smartphone with at least a 2 mp camera and a full screen, no keyboard taking up room on the phone. Could anyone please suggest a phone, and from where I would get it for the best price--Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, other? I would like a very basic phone for $50 - $75 if that's possible.

Thank you for any help you can give me. I've spent hours researching this and become more confused after reading post after post.

The $30 plan will work fine with a smartphone.

    Not true.

And remember if you activate online there are 2 $30 plans. One with 1500 mins/texts and 30MB of data. And another with 100 mins, unlimited text and 5GB of data (available only for new activations)

Ok, thank you very much. One more question then, I have a prepaid simple phone right now with TMobile. and want to keep the number. If I purchased a new phone, would that qualify as a new activation--would I be able to keep my number?

I think you would have to port your number out to some other prepaid carrier first. Then you could port it back in on the new $30 plan. I don't think they will let you port it directly to the $30 plan.
