Is the Slider resistive or capacitive?

I like the way my Slider responds to fingertip touch, and am looking for an android tablet with the same type of sensitivity. But I see that many tablets are divided between "resistive" and "capacitive" touch. It's not real clear which one of those uses a stylus (which is what I DON'T want) and which one uses a fingertip just like my Slider. Please help. Should I be searching for capacitive or resistive tablets? Thanks!

Whenever you have to apply pressure on the device's screen, either with a finger or a stylus in order to use it - it is considered a resistive touch display. When you
use only your fingertip to interact with the screen (without applying any pressure) it is a capacitive touch device. So, you are looking for a capacitive touchscreen device.

Personally, I don't recall using any Android device that didn't have a capacitive touchscreen display.

I've seen several -- there's a PanDigital Supernova at Best Buy that still uses a resistive screen, although it's not horrible I still wouldn't touch it. Most models at K-Mart are resistive too. Unfortunately. The cheapest capacative tablet I'm aware of is either by Acer or Asus, or is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7"...

There are a ton of off-brand 7 and 10" capacitive tablets out there for between $100-200 (ie: skypad alpha 2, probably the best el cheapo one). I wouldn't buy any of them, but to each their own. I highly recommend the Acer A100, A200, A500, great bang for the buck. They are also all getting ICS.

I was looking at the Acers. Especially now that ICS is on its way... Decent price and decent specs too, although every time I go to Best Buy to look at them some rep drags me towards an iPad.

Thank you. Well, I have been looking for and waiting for a sub-$200 idiotproof tablet and nothing has really caught my eye until the Nexus 7. I sure as heck don't want to fork out $800 for an idiotproof iPad.

I'm very happy with my A100. It does have its limitations, ie: viewing angles and battery life. But it is a full featured, cheap, and has a good Modding base.

If your not concerned with expandable external microsd , or rear camera, I would get get the nexus7 or wait for the A110. Also the the nexus and a110 are quad-core.

If your not concerned with expandable external microsd , or rear camera, I would get get the nexus7 or wait for the A110. Also the the nexus and a110 are quad-core.

I'd get Samsung Galaxy Tab II because it has SDXC support as well as Windows Media video and Flash video support.
And it's $250.

Yeah but these were things I was looking at online (cheap, from China), not something right in front of me. The distinction between the two confused me and I needed advice.

Not concerned about the rear camera. I take pictures with my phone and so do my parents and kids. I like that the Nexus 7 includes GPS - my parents will find that helpful. My kids will like the music & movies and I will like the portable Skype. The A110 sounds great. When will it be for sale?

There's no official release date I have found. Somebody said August, but its probably a guess.

There is a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0".

The A100 has all those features too. But like I said it still is a budget tab, and the screen veiwing angles are not that great and it has a smaller battery (3100mah). You can find refurbs for $150-180. So its a good bang for the buck, imo.
