The difference is the highs and lows, and the clarity and bass. And no I don't listen to rap music, but I can tell a huge difference between 32kbps and 320kbps and even 128k.

In my car, there is little difference in 128 and 320. In my mothers car, holy cow, 128 (same phone, same streaming songs) sounds pathetic. Hers is a Mark Levinson audio system which reproduces music at LESS than 0.1% THD (total haromic distortion), so the system really inspects and dissects the audio source, which is why 128kbps doesn't cut it. Better yet, load her car up with some FLAC or WAV files, and the experience is mind-boggling. I have never heard music so perfect before (The Forrest Gump Suite by Alan Silvestri...dayum!). Of course, FLAC and WAV files are are 50-60mb files, which aren't the best for streaming!

Ha ha! Yep, my mom has the Lexus premium sound too and it seriously does rock. The only other sound system that I've seen as comparable is the 1000 watt Dynaudio system that goes in all Bugattis and the '06-'09 Volvo C70 (only put in this model for these years only)

Glad someone else has heard this! Yeah, Mark Lev is above the rest. It puts our Bose home theater to shame. In fact, if you want Mark Lev in your home, they fly out from Cali and design a system custom for your house, in the ballpark of 100k. One of the biggest differences is Mark Lev uses (very expensive) metal cones in their speakers vs. cloth or paper. Huuuuge difference. Then there's the quality of the amps and fiber wiring system, etc. Even at full volume, no distortion! I recommend you listen to the Forrest Gump Suite (full 9 minute version) at a pretty high volume in your mothers car. It will blow your mind, I promise. I wish my car had this system...mom doesn't even know what she has!

Back on topic: with the right equipment, the difference in 128/160/256/320 is huge.

My vehicle has a killer sound system. The big hole on the floorboard lets in all kinds of road noise. I call it my rush hour on concrete soundtrack.

I notice the highs and lows aren't as crisp as higher mp3 files. AAC in general sounds the best though in my opinion.

My dads LS600h has a Mark Levinson sound system and I am so jealous. Bose especially in vehicles have never been impressive.

You really don't know what satellite latency is do you? You likely haven't had to use it and don't use EDGE daily so you really aren't one to talk...

My Excede Satellite connection gets latency of 500ms or less now...

If you want casual music, and you want a variety, 32kbps is fine. If you have an amazing sound system and want to show it off, then load up some 320k files, or lossless or WAV files to show it off. No need to be streaming 320k over a cell network.

Nah, Sprint believe it or not has actually been improving :0, scary huh? haha

Their coverage in TX and along the interstates from AL to their was good, and while rural coverage is lacking in AL especially, you at least fall back to Verizon when there is no signal. Thankfully we have great Nextel coverage down here and when/if they convert those towers to CDMA we will have better signal.

I pay a good bit for wireless every month honestly, but I am a phone addict so its ok.

I have a satellite data connection at my rural lake house where we can't even get a phone line. I pondered getting Verizon's Home Fusion because the speeds are 50mbit/s+ out there, but the caps are what stopped me. I still have unlimited hotspot anyways so if I ever need it, its there.

But Excede Satellite internet is very fast, and consistent with the launch of ViaSat-1, I get the advertised 12mbit/s down and 3mbit/s up and pay a ridiculous $129 a month for 25GB but I can run Vonage over it just fine honestly with no noticeable delay, and I have E-911 since they don't offer landline service to our house at all.

As far as music, its mostly me by myself so even though I don't have a $60,000+ car, and my stereo isn't the best of the best, I still like 320kbps over 32, and I do notice a difference because I am an audiophile, now 250kbps AAC sounds better than 320kbps MP3 in my opinion but what do I know? Just all a matter of opinion and preferences, if my connection can support it I am definitely streaming it

Wow.. from super sucky to slightly less sucky? They have a LONG way to go if they want to be competitive with the big boys. AT&T owns TX, and even Sprint roaming can't keep up with AT&T there.

Aren't you limited data wise with roaming, and only have 1xRTT? You pay almost as much as Verizon, yet, you get so much less 3G coverage. That sucks.

So if you have unlimited hotspot, why the heck do you have satellite data? That makes no sense. Even 5GB on a Jetpack is better than satellite. I bet VOIP would run better over a Jetpack.

Then load the files locally and don't stream.
