I RRRRRRRRRRRRRRREALLy despise these kinds of posts. Glad to see a LOT of helpful (and perhaps forgiving) posts that quickly overshadowed this one.

DH, that's probably the best guaranteed way of forcing a hup to a $0 A/DSRF ABCD/DDSRFFFFFFFF device. Retentions will usually do 3yrs, but today someone posted in RFD they were given a 12month renewal...strange.

Maybe I'll just keep calling in until I get a newbie who agrees to renew my contract.
Just for clarification, it wasn't updating my plan that got me the renewed contract, I asked for it specifically. She asked me why I wanted that, and I told her how content I was with Rogers as compared to the horrors of Bell and Telus. Just be cool and convince them that you aren't going to be a flight risk. The new contract came into effect a couple days past, and I have since switched carriers. I'll know whether I was successful in a month or so. An update will be forthcoming.

Nice! Another option is to feed them the old PR line about protection against price increase.

Hey, I thought I'd come on here with my plan to see if it would work. I'm on a family plan right now that started in may last year. somehow it doesn't end until October 2014 so cancellation will be $900-1000. If i get the Samsung C414 ($19 on a 3 year, total of $139.99) will it renew the whole account and get us a final bill of $175? (140+12.50+12.50=175)
    Thanks.
